Vltal-Shok ammunition
featuring the 55-grain Barnes
Triple Shock bullet, where it
consistently produced 3-shot,
100-yard groups of between
V* and 1 Inch. With much of
the other ammunition, group
size increased to between VA
and 2 inches.
I've had the rifle out in the
desert near my Arizona home
a lot. I shoot it off the hood
of the truck at 100-yard bull'seye
targets, and have used it
to dispatch a fair number of
rabbits and ground squirrels.
It's too hot right now to
seriously chase the local coyote
population, but when fall
arrives I will carry it for that
task as well.
During this field use one
thing I have grown to like
about this rifle is its compact
size. It is easy to maneuver in
the field, sets up solidly over a
set of shooting sticks when
I sit, and shoots quite well
when I go prone and rest it
over my daypack. It is also
easy to maneuver in the cab
of the truck, making it a nice
"ranch" rifle.
All told, the MRI strikes me
as a modern sporting rifle that
is here to stay. It is pleasant to
shcx)t, reasonably accurate, and
the A.R.G.O. system has been

conditions to be as reliable as
