Objectives
1 To offer junior doctors interested
in developing a career in neonatal
medicine or taking care specifically of
neonates, state-ofthe-art interactive
teaching on key topics of Neonatology
and Perinatology. Teaching will be
evidence based, clinically and
practically oriented, and more
importantly, will be ‘inspiring’.
2 To establish close relationships
between trainers and trainees as well as
between trainees. This should provide
the basis for future clinical and scientific
collaboration in the field of perinatology
in Switzerland.

Course structure
The 2 1/2 day course (18 hours of
teaching) will take place in a remote
Swiss surrounding requiring 3 nights on
site. Arrival Wednesday evening –
Departure Saturday afternoon. The
course is attended on two successive
years in spring (May). Enough time will
be allocated for practical work
including discussions. Trainees will
present one chosen topic (Powerpoint
30’ time including questions and
discussion) during second course year.
Evaluation
• Trainers will be evaluated at end
of each year-course
• Trainees will have a short MCQ
with 3-6 questions from each
topic given
Certificate
Upon successful completion of two
year course an individual certificate
of attendance will be provided.
Miscellaneous considerations
The group working 2 1/2 days in a
retreat, team spirit and active
participation is expected for the
teaching sessions. Each participant is
also expected to contribute to a
social happening after work, that
could include slides, music, games,
stories etc.
