Objectives<br />

1 To <strong>of</strong>fer junior doctors interested<br />

in developing a career in neonatal<br />

medicine or taking care specifically <strong>of</strong><br />

neonates, state-<strong>of</strong>the-art interactive<br />

teaching on key topics <strong>of</strong> <strong>Neonatology</strong><br />

and Perinatology. Teaching will be<br />

evidence based, clinically and<br />

practically oriented, and more<br />

importantly, will be ‘inspiring’.<br />

2 To establish close relationships<br />

between trainers and trainees as well as<br />

between trainees. This should provide<br />

the basis for future clinical and scientific<br />

collaboration in the field <strong>of</strong> perinatology<br />

in Switzerland.<br />

A third optional <strong>course</strong> (III) is in<br />

Course structure<br />

The 2 1/2 day <strong>course</strong> (18 hours <strong>of</strong><br />

teaching) will take place in a remote<br />

<strong>Swiss</strong> surrounding requiring 3 nights on<br />

site. Arrival Wednesday evening –<br />

Departure Saturday afternoon. The<br />

<strong>course</strong> is attended on two successive<br />

years in spring (May). Enough time will<br />

be allocated for practical work<br />

including discussions. Trainees will<br />

present one chosen topic (Powerpoint<br />

30’ time including questions and<br />

discussion) during second <strong>course</strong> year.<br />

Evaluation<br />

• Trainers will be evaluated at end<br />

<strong>of</strong> each year-<strong>course</strong><br />

• Trainees will have a short MCQ<br />

with 3-6 questions from each<br />

topic given<br />

Certificate<br />

Upon successful completion <strong>of</strong> two<br />

year <strong>course</strong> an individual certificate<br />

<strong>of</strong> attendance will be provided.<br />

Miscellaneous considerations<br />

The group working 2 1/2 days in a<br />

retreat, team spirit and active<br />

participation is expected for the<br />

teaching sessions. Each participant is<br />

also expected to contribute to a<br />

social happening after work, that<br />

could include slides, music, games,<br />

stories etc.<br />
