Design Concept Competition<br />
Evaluation and Assessment - Notes<br />
The Expression of Interest (EOI) submission will be evaluated in two stages.<br />
The Technical Panel will primarily evaluate the responses to questions 1 to 10 of the EOI<br />
Questionnaire; and the Jury will focus primarily on the <strong>de</strong>sign quality questions, including question 8. In<br />
this way it is planned to enable the judging process to evaluate innovation and <strong>de</strong>sign approach<br />
alongsi<strong>de</strong> realistic technical compliance.<br />
Short-listed <strong>de</strong>sign teams will be invited to a project briefing day on the 1st Sept at the BAS Offices in<br />
Cambridge where they will receive full project <strong>de</strong>tails (including Project Brief, Health & Safety Plan etc).<br />
On completion of the brief teams will be invited to prepare and submit Concept Proposals.<br />

Technical Panel<br />
The Technical Panel will provi<strong>de</strong> support to the Jury Panel and comprise BAS staff with many years of<br />
experience of working and operating in <strong>Antarctic</strong>a. The Halley VI Project Manager will chair the<br />
Technical Panel.The RIBA Architectural Advisor will also be a member of the Technical Panel.<br />
Results<br />
The results of each stage of the Competition will be announced through the media after competitors<br />
have been notified by post, fax or email.<br />
The <strong>British</strong> <strong>Antarctic</strong> <strong>Survey</strong> will not be bound to adopt any of the concept proposals as the basis for<br />
the <strong>de</strong>tailed <strong>de</strong>sign and build of Halley VI Research Station.<br />
