PlaTfORm<br />

The government promises to launch a reform program designed to create growth.<br />

They <strong>in</strong>tend to facilitate <strong>in</strong>vestments which enhance welfare, education and<br />

research. Productivity is a top priority for the government.<br />

the Government Platform states:<br />

“Productivity must be <strong>in</strong>creased so as to ensure <strong>Denmark</strong><br />

rises towards the top among the OECD countries.“<br />

PRODUctivity cOMMiSSiOn<br />

The government is sett<strong>in</strong>g a precedent for strong productivity growth throughout society,<br />

with<strong>in</strong> export, domestic market sectors and the public sector. The government has stated:<br />

“<strong>Denmark</strong> must once aga<strong>in</strong> move up the rank<strong>in</strong>gs. We must lie close to the OECD countries<br />

that have the highest productivity. The Government will therefore set up a productivity commission<br />

to identify the causes <strong>of</strong> the low productivity s<strong>in</strong>ce the mid-1990s, and on this basis<br />

come with specific recommendations that can enhance productivity <strong>in</strong> <strong>Denmark</strong>.”<br />

AmCham outreach to the new government <strong>in</strong> 2012 <strong>in</strong>tends to <strong>in</strong>fluence the content and<br />

results <strong>of</strong> the Productivity Commission.<br />

FOReiGn DiRect <strong>in</strong>veStMentS<br />

The Government platform also states that:<br />

“<strong>Denmark</strong> must also become better at attract<strong>in</strong>g foreign <strong>in</strong>vestments. Investments <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Denmark</strong> from foreign <strong>in</strong>vestors lie below the average for the rich countries. Action must be<br />

taken to rectify this situation. We must therefore create better framework conditions for<br />

<strong>in</strong>vestments by foreign companies <strong>in</strong> Danish companies.”<br />

The government backed up its words with action, creat<strong>in</strong>g a new M<strong>in</strong>istry for Trade and<br />

Investment, and appo<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g M<strong>in</strong>ister Pia Olsen Dyhr to spearhead .<br />
