student activities & achievements student activities & achievements 9th Annual Women’s <strong>Studies</strong> Student Conference The theme for the 9th Annual Women’s <strong>Studies</strong> Student Conference was “Cleaning Up the Down Economy: Women, Gender, and the Global Economy.” The event was sponsored and organized by the Women’s <strong>Studies</strong> Graduate Student Association (WSGSA). Coinciding with the theme, the Women’s <strong>Studies</strong> Interns, Stephanie Acevedo and Mirtha Soto gave an exclusive tour <strong>of</strong> the “Women’s Work/Men’s Work: Labor & Gender in America” exhibit at the Wolfsonian Teaching Gallery at the Frost Museum. The WSGSA Distinguished Guest Lecture, “Laundry, Cultural Production, and Political Economy in Mexico City,” was given by Dr. Marie‐Eileen Francois from California State University‐Channel Islands. The all‐day conference was a success with over 125 students, faculty, staff, and guests in attendance.
