GENDER & WOMEN’S STUDIES ACROSS<br />

CULTURES INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM<br />

The Women’s <strong>Studies</strong> Center has a strong commitment to international education. In 2005, the Gender<br />

and Women’s <strong>Studies</strong> Across Cultures <strong>International</strong> Consortium was launched and includes the<br />

following institutions: Universidad de Granada in Spain; Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez,<br />

Morocco; Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and FIU. The primary organizers <strong>of</strong> the Consortium are:<br />

Dr. Margarita María Birriel Salcedo, Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Modern History, Moderna, Universidad de<br />

Granada, Spain.<br />

Dr. Fatima Sadiqi, Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Linguistics and Gender <strong>Studies</strong>, University <strong>of</strong> Fez, Morocco, and<br />

President <strong>of</strong> Isis Center for Women and Development<br />

Dr. Souad Slaoui, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Linguistics, Universite Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah,<br />

Morocco.<br />

Dr. Ángela Inés Robledo Palomeque, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor, Universidad Nacional de Colombia<br />

Dr. Aurora Morcillo, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> History and <strong>Women's</strong> <strong>Studies</strong>, FIU<br />

Dr. Ana Maria Bidegain, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Religious <strong>Studies</strong>, FIU<br />

The upcoming Consortium meeting will be held at <strong>Florida</strong> <strong>International</strong> University October 28‐30,<br />

2010. Attending the conference will be no more than two delegates from each member university. The<br />

meeting will focus on administrative and program development. A public roundtable will then be held<br />

on “Beyond the Secular/ Religious Divide: Building a Shared Feminist Space.” Schedule and additional<br />

details are forthcoming.<br />
