GENDER & WOMEN’S STUDIES ACROSS
CULTURES INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM
The Women’s Studies Center has a strong commitment to international education. In 2005, the Gender
and Women’s Studies Across Cultures International Consortium was launched and includes the
following institutions: Universidad de Granada in Spain; Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez,
Morocco; Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and FIU. The primary organizers of the Consortium are:
Dr. Margarita María Birriel Salcedo, Professor of Modern History, Moderna, Universidad de
Granada, Spain.
Dr. Fatima Sadiqi, Professor of Linguistics and Gender Studies, University of Fez, Morocco, and
President of Isis Center for Women and Development
Dr. Souad Slaoui, Associate Professor of Linguistics, Universite Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah,
Morocco.
Dr. Ángela Inés Robledo Palomeque, Associate Professor, Universidad Nacional de Colombia
Dr. Aurora Morcillo, Associate Professor of History and Women's Studies, FIU
Dr. Ana Maria Bidegain, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, FIU
The upcoming Consortium meeting will be held at Florida International University October 28‐30,
2010. Attending the conference will be no more than two delegates from each member university. The
meeting will focus on administrative and program development. A public roundtable will then be held
on “Beyond the Secular/ Religious Divide: Building a Shared Feminist Space.” Schedule and additional
details are forthcoming.
