1. FINAL EXAMS
Final exams will be held Tuesday, December 13 through Friday, December 16. Testing will take place
from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. each day. Tutorials sessions will be conducted each afternoon from 2:15 –
4:15 p.m.

2. FINAL EXAM WEEK LUNCH
Pre-ordered sack lunches will be available on exam days The choices of entrees are Deli Club Sandwich
or a Cheese Sandwich The sides are a bag of chips, pickle spears, fresh fruit and one milk choice. The
regular price is $2.65. Students on the Reduced lunch program will pay $.40 and those on the Free lunch
program will incur no cost for the sack lunch.
Sack lunches MUST be PRE-ORDERED by Thursday, December 8. Orders can be placed in the cafeteria
or emailed to the FANS manager, Amy Tang, at amy.tang@pisd.edu. The order should include the entrée
choice, student name and student I.D. number.
Lunches must be picked up immediately following the exams and students must eat the sack lunch in the
cafeteria. Students who do not order a sack lunch may leave campus for lunch.
3. WINTER BREAK
School will be closed for winter break beginning on Monday, December 19. Students will return to
school for the start of second semester on Tuesday, January 3, 2011.
4. COUNSELORS’ CORNER
Semester Grade Calculations
The last day of classwork for the third six weeks is Monday, December 12. Final exams will be
administered Tuesday, December 13 through Friday, December 16. The combination of grades for the
first, second and third six weeks, and the final exam will then be finalized on the students’ transcript.

Becoming a Junior
Current tenth grade students will begin the registration process in January. The Plano East Counselors
will visit Clark on January 5. On-line registration for next year’s courses will take place on January 13.
Tenth grade academic conferences will begin in February and continue through April. All sophomores
and their parents will have the opportunity to meet with his/her counselor to discuss:
- Class selection for eleventh grade and make changes/corrections to on-line registration
- Four year plans and graduation requirements
- Class rank
- College requirements
- SAT & ACT testing
These conferences are a wonderful time to talk about hopes, dreams and goals for the future as well as
the process for achieving them. Your scheduled appointment time will be mailed to you two or three
weeks in advance.

The counseling center will be hosting a college night event on January 12. Additional information will be
forthcoming on this event.

5. FFA
Congratulations to Thomas Rockwood, who competed with the Senior Quiz team at the Area V LDE
(Leadership Development Events) competition in Krum Texas on November 19. The team placed second
at area and will advance to the state competition in Huntsville this weekend.

6. JROTC
The JROTC cadets did an outstanding job at yesterday’s formal inspection. The cadets scored 97% in all
inspected areas and will keep their Honor Unit with Distinction status (Gold Star). Please congratulate
the cadets on their hard work and dedication. The battalion remains in the top 15% of the 1750 JROTC
units in the nation.
7. LASER

The Clark Science Fair was held this morning. The awards will be posted after school today. Thirty
projects will advance to the district and regional fairs.
All of the projects will be on display all day Monday in the library. Please come by and see the amazing
projects our Clark students have produced.
8. MOVING OVER WINTER BREAK
Please contact the counseling office at 469-752-7215 if you plan on moving over the winter break and
will be withdrawing from Clark High School. A parent will need to stop by our office prior to December
16 to sign withdrawal papers. All textbooks and library books need to be returned by December 16 and
all fees cleared.
9. ORCHESTRA
You are invited to the Clark Symphony Orchestra’s Winter Concert. The Symphony Orchestra is a
collaboration between the Clark Band and Orchestra featuring the Clark Chamber Orchestra and members
of the Clark Wind Ensemble playing together for the only time this year. The concert is Wednesday,
December 7 th at 7:00 pm in the Clark Cafetorium. Admission is free.
10. PRACTICE ACT/SAT
Thinking about how you might score on the ACT, SAT or PSAT? Don’t practice on the real thing!
The Clark orchestra booster club is sponsoring the Princeton Review for Practice SAT / ACT & PSAT Tests &
Strategy Session on Saturday, January 29 at 9:00 a.m. The deadline to register is Friday, January 20.

12. VOE FORMS
Verification of Enrollment Forms for Driver’s License
You must have a Verification of Enrollment Form (VOE) if you are planning to get a beginner’s permit, a
driver’s license, or renew your driver’s license. The VOE form is valid for 30 days. You may sign up in
the front office with Mrs. Knott, our receptionist. The deadline for VOE requests is 4:15 P.M. on
Wednesday, December 14. They will be ready to be picked up Friday, December 16. Any VOE forms
requested after 4:15 p.m. on December 14 will be ready on January 3, 2012 at 4:15 p.m. There will
absolutely be no exceptions to this deadline.
13. BENEFIT SILENT AUCTION AND RAFFLE

A benefit silent auction and raffle will be held for the family of Rasor Elementary student, Santa Crusz
Odoemene, who recently lost his battle with cancer at the precious age of ten. We hope you will attend.

14. PLANO EAST SWIMMING
Congratulations to the Plano East Men's Swim Team. They placed fourth out of sixty-nine at theTISCA
invitational. They beat both PSHS and PWSH.
The East swimmers will compete in their final home meet against PSHS on December 8 at 6:00 p.m. at
Rowlinson Natatorium (Williams HS).
15. PLANO SENIOR HIGH BAND
Plano Senior High Band presents The PanCat Steel Drum Band Winter Concert and Fete on Thursday,
December 8 in the PSHS Cafeteria starting at 7 p.m. Admission is FREE.
Come out and enjoy this magical event as the sounds of sweet pan featuring Plano Senior High School
percussionists provide enchanting renditions of some winter holiday favorites including “Grandma Got
Run Over by a Reindeer,” “Jolly Ol’ St. Nick,” and “Jingle, Jingle, Jingle,” among others!

20. PLANO SENIOR HIGH JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The PSHS jazz ensemble will present SWING, SWING, SWING at Club Cat on November 22 at 7:30
p.m. in the Plano Senior High cafeteria. This fabulous swing dance features live big band music by the
Plano Senior High jazz ensemble.

Admission is $8.00 in advance, $10 at the door, under age 10 free. Admission includes complimentary
desserts and beverages, a dance contest and raffle baskets.
FREE swing dance lessons: 6:00-7:20 p.m.

Bravo! is the student club for theatre. There are three activities per year, plus members get free

pre-order your book. The cost is $55 through January 27. After that date, the cost will increase to $65.
BOOKS WILL NOT BE SOLD IN MAY and the price will gradually increase, therefore, for the best
deal, make sure you reserve your copy early!

34. ATTENDANCE
State law requires that students attend each class 90% of each semester in order to receive credit. More
than seven absences in the fall semester (excused or unexcused) may result in make-up time being
assigned or credit being denied in that class. The Department of Public Safety requires an attendance
verification form (VOE) reflecting concurrence with state attendance law from your school to get a
driver's license or a provisional driving permit. If you have any questions, please contact the attendance
clerk or one of the administrators.
Absences will be recorded as Unexcused until the student brings in a parent note when he/she returns to
school following the absence, even if the parent phoned the school to report the absence. EMAILS WILL
NOT BE ACCEPTED IN PLACE OF A NOTE CONTAINING A PARENTS'S SIGNATURE.

If your child is sick -
Call 469-752-7200 and press option 3 to report the absence. Leave a message with your child's name,
Student ID#, your name and reason for absence. You must call in each day your child is sick. Make sure
that your child brings in an absence note to the attendance office upon their return. All absence notes
must be turned in within three (3) days of the student's return. Any note received past three days of the
student's return to school, will not be accepted to excuse the absence. It will, however, be kept in their
file.
The following are some examples of unexcused absences:
1. Running late
2. Flat tire or out of gas (car trouble)
3. Carpool running late
4. Missing bus: DART or school bus
5. Parent not waking up student
6. Overslept
7. No ride to school
8. Personal/business reasons
9. Note, no reason stated
10. Runaway
If your child is late for school -
If your child is late due to a doctor's appointment, please have him/her bring in a note from the doctor's
office. If you child is late due to illness, please send him/her in with a note stating that he/she was ill.
Please note that three (3) tardies are equal to one absence.
If your child needs to be picked up early for a doctor appointment - Write a note and have your child turn
it into the attendance office in the morning before school. The note should state the time that your child
will be picked up, a number we can call to confirm the note, and the reason that they are leaving early.
If your child will be driving themselves to a doctor appointment or leaving school early for any reason
and they are driving, you must add to the note the following: "I am giving my child permission to drive
themselves."
If your child is going to miss a day(s) of school due to travel plans, you must submit a note at least FIVE
school days in advance. An Absence Request Form may be picked up at the Attendance Office.

35. ELEVATOR KEYS
Students with a medical need for an elevator key should see the school nurse. There will be a deposit fee
of $10.00 per elevator key. The deposit will be returned if the key is returned on time. If the key is
returned late and the key has been replaced by Clark, half of the deposit will be retained. The entire
deposit will be retained if the key is not returned.
36. PARENT PORTAL
In addition to providing direct access to our Parent Viewer information (grades/attendance), the Parent
Portal serves as the primary resource for all of the services provided online to our parents. This site gives
you direct access into your child's classroom information, registration to your child's campus eNews,

district-wide information and links to other often used services. Find the link for Parent Portal at
