The shop is a really cool cross between a race shop and a restoration shop. It is massive, meticulously clean, and well lit. They have some interesting cars in storage, in for service, race builds or restoration, plus an engine building “clean room” and some top notch machining equipment. They will have break-out groups for people to ask questions and hear about car building and high performance ideas. Parking is ample on the street with a few handicap spots near the shop entrance and there will be the usual adult beverages and snacks. It is also the RMR Election meeting, so please be there to cast your votes! Last month’s RMR-PCA social was merged with the Oktoberfest at Prestige Imports. Over 1,000 people showed up for free Bavarian style food, beer, wine and plenty of German festivities! Once again, it was a smashing success. positive offset David Schmidt, Editor upcoming events The place I used to work had a saying: “If we did something amazing but nobody captured it in words or pictures, then it’s like it never happened at all”. Please don’t let this travesty befall the RMR Porsche club. We do all kinds of awesome events, get-togethers and festivities, but I cannot get them recorded for posterity nor shared amongst our entire membership if I don’t have content in the form of a simple write-up or a few photos. So, please send me a quick paragraph or two and deluge my In-box with photos from an event you were at that somehow involved a Porsche or two so I can get it included in HighGear. A great way to start is to feature your car “In the Spotlight,” which is a whole page dedicated to you and YOUR Porsche in each and every issue of HighGear. All of us have some sort of story about how you obtained the keys to that Stuttgart special in your driveway. When we get together, the stories come pouring out about how, where and when you found that exact Porsche. If you are proud of your car, then please share your tale with the rest of us and show off that German-made beauty. Shoulder your humility, shyness, or fear of typing you may have and offer your constituents a glimpse into how that car found its way into your garage. In December, the annual RMR holiday party and awards ceremony beckons with a gala event in downtown Denver. January calls us to a daredevil event on a frozen lake called Eiskhana. All vehicles are welcome as their drivers test their skills on a snowy, slick and slippery surface while wide-eyed witnesses revel in the spectacle, clutching mugs of hot cocoa infused with peppermint schnapps in their mittens. The Porsche Breakfast Club continues to meet all year long on the second Saturday of each month at the Village Inn on Colorado Blvd. just north of I-25. If you find you still need your Porsche fix and the blogs and chatrooms just don’t fill the bill, then gather around with your fellow lack-of-fairweather sufferers and wax poetic about all things Porsche until you burst. I can also tell you that members of your prestigious and prodigious Board of Directors have been working diligently behind the scenes to secure another year jam-packed with adventures for you and your Porsche. Recently, members of the RMR met with members of the AMR to coordinate schedules and help one another in as many ways as possible. What this means to you, dear reader, is that you will have plenty of events to sign up for and participate in. Just don’t forget to share your story and photos about it!
