a new title for the next release.<br />

Whether it will be a popular song<br />

title like "I Say a Little Prayer" or his<br />

last work, a memoir titled "What<br />

Becomes ofthe Broken-Hearted,"<br />

remains to be seen.<br />

"I like music, and if the title works<br />

with what I've written, I try to use it,"<br />

he said.<br />

The 48-year-old Harris is gay, and<br />

his previous novels have included a<br />

main character who was gay. The<br />

next novel, he says, will center on<br />

three heterosexual characters. Also in<br />

the works for publisher Disney­<br />

Hyperion is a young-adult novel.<br />

Harris, who has homes in Atlanta and Houston, returns in the fall to his alma mater, the<br />

University ofArkansas at Fayetteville, to teach creative writing and African-American<br />

literature. He says the upcoming semester there will be his last, though he adds he loves<br />

teaching. "I've left the door open there."<br />

Come on down<br />

Joel Osteen, pastor of the 46,ooo-member Lakewood Church in Houston, will be in North<br />

Little Rock on Friday, June 9, to sign his new book, "Your Best Life Now." He'll be at the<br />

Books-a-Million in Lakewood Village at noon. Sign-up for a place in line starts at 9 a.m.<br />

that day.<br />

Easy chair<br />

An award-winning chair made entirely of rolled refrigerator box cardboard and glue by<br />

University ofArkansas architecture students Amy McCarty and Samantha Smith will be<br />

exhibited at the American Institute ofArchitects' national convention in Los Angeles in<br />

July. Dubbed the "Extension," the chair expands from 24 to 42 inches wide.<br />
