Welltain (wellbeing in the mountains) is a new formula to experience<br />
movement and relaxation in nature, thereby increasing your<br />
physical and spiritual well-being. Accompanied by professional<br />
welltain coaches, who will support you and furthermore point out<br />
how you can integrate specific welltain experiences into your<br />
daily life.<br />
It is certainly no coincidence that the idea for welltain originated<br />
in Lech am Arlberg. For the moderate altitudes (1500 – 2500 m)<br />
play an important part in it: The Austrian Moderate Altitude<br />
Study (AMAS 2000) provided the first real scientific evidence that<br />
individualized, active <strong>holidays</strong> which are carried out correctly and<br />
take place in the mountains do indeed offer exceptional health<br />
benefits.<br />
Now this may all sound rather scientific, but actually we only have<br />
one aim: To give you a holiday which offers you more movement,<br />
more relaxation, more fun, adventure and new experiences. One<br />
which will continue to remain a source of improved well-being<br />
after the holiday and for a long time to come.<br />
Which is why welltain embodies the maximum that you can get<br />

The first step towards more vitality and lasting well-being is the<br />
realization that one needs to do something for body and mind.<br />
But what? And how often? And how intensively? If one were to<br />
simply start training from one day to the next without knowing<br />
one’s physical constitution, this would endanger one’s own health<br />
more than promoting it.<br />
For this reason, the welltain programme ideally begins with the<br />
measurement of your vitality status by one of our coaches: By<br />
means of a discussion and a row of tests, our coaches discover<br />
where your weaknesses and strengths lie and use this informa -<br />
tion to compile a programme with you which complies both with<br />
your wishes and with your level of fitness.<br />

Movement is the key to more vitality. With welltain, valuable<br />
movement impulses are optimized in every respect. This is<br />
ensured by personalized coaching, tailored to suit your needs in<br />
the moderate altitudes of the Arlberg.<br />
Here, at more than 1,500 m above sea level, the air contains<br />
less oxygen, causing changes to the body in two stages as follows:<br />
In the first phase, your body consumes more energy. You breathe<br />
more and your pulse rate increases. As a result, the amount of<br />
energy you consume increases while your fitness seems to<br />
decrease.<br />
In the second phase, the cranked up cardiovascular system<br />
calms down, your breathing and metabolism operate with<br />
increasing efficiency, thus becoming more effective.<br />
Whether you choose to hike, do Nordic walking, cycle or go jogging.<br />
Whether alone, as a couple or in a group – the choice is<br />
yours. Your coach will see to it that your activities consist of a<br />
balanced programme of stamina, balance, strengthening and<br />
compensation movements and exercises.
A day of activity at 1,500 m above sea level does more than<br />
improve one’s stamina and performance. It is also the best relaxation<br />
exercise for people who experience daily mental strain due<br />
to their occupation. Therefore there is no comparison between<br />
the effects of welltain and the results of conventional fitness programmes.<br />
Even more so, considering that purely passive relaxation<br />
naturally also forms part of welltain:<br />
For example, by doing calming relaxation exercises after a hike so<br />
as to hone one’s senses and become very consciously aware of<br />
one’s body under the guidance of a coach. Or simply to just lie<br />
back in the sauna or steam bath and unwind, enjoy a massage<br />
while looking forward to a delicious meal in one of the many fine<br />

Our coaches take note of your personal requests by setting up an<br />
individualized programme which has been tailored to suit your<br />
level of fitness and your preferences and which, while boosting<br />
your fitness, has one great side-effect: the fun factor.<br />
Movement and relaxation in nature is without doubt the gentlest<br />
method of getting body and mind into shape. Our coaches, who<br />
have all completed university degrees in either sports science or<br />
health sports, are glad to be of assistance. The programme<br />
which they offer is consequently very varied and versatile, and<br />
their support encourages one to carry on.<br />
Your very own personal coach will assist you with Nordic walking,<br />
hiking, stretching, power training, gymnastics or relaxation exercises<br />
– and is there for you. And the good tips you will receive<br />
regarding training, diet and movement are still valid long after<br />
your holiday is over.<br />
Everything we do starts in the mind. For this reason, welltain<br />
coaches focus on mental training. Motivation, the implementa -<br />
tion of your strengths, mental harmony, time management and<br />
subsequently stress management are central aspects of<br />

You can also book welltain in Lech for winter. The concept is<br />
identical; the types of movement and relaxation are adapted to<br />
the fact that Lech has a snowy winter landscape to offer.<br />
Snowshoe hikes, winter hikes as well as Nordic walking and<br />
cross-country skiing create the movement impulses for mobile<br />
coaching. Whether as an alternative or complementary to skiing –<br />
