søre sålefjell is highest peak on the island of Karmøy. From<br />
here one has a view over most of the region and also takes<br />
in the south towards Kvitsøy, stavanger and the north of<br />
Jæren. the first part of the hike follows the lighted track at<br />
Liarlund, which is very popular with walkers. the alignment<br />
track is marked with the letter K (Karmøy march). Access:<br />
from Liarlund in Kopervik. Degree of difficulty: low.<br />
Duration: approx. 4 hours.<br />

summit (227 meters Over sea LeveL) (haugesund)<br />
commence at stemmen beside eivindsvannet Lake. the hike<br />
begins in djupadalen valley. the route follows the south<br />
side of stakk and continues to the right towards iglatjørn<br />
and down to trolldalen. in conjunction with Kringsåhytta<br />
cabin, an 80-hectare area is used as grazing land for sheep.<br />
coffee and waffles are on sale on sundays. closed during<br />
school holidays. the return hike passes the mast on steinsfjellet<br />
summit where there is a fantastic panorama view of<br />
the region. Access: skjoldavegen road til evindsvannet Lake.<br />
Degree of difficulty: low. Duration: approx 2.5 hours.<br />
Åkrasanden Beach (karmøy)<br />
– wandering aLOng the white sand dunes<br />
a beautiful hike along the nature trail that runs from Åkra-<br />
Sauda contrasts between<br />
mountains and ords and<br />
town and country.<br />
Highway Rv 520 between Sauda and Røldal is<br />
part of the National Tourist Trail in Ryfylke.<br />
Explore Svandalsfossen Waterfall and experience<br />
the strength of the cascading water, or visit the<br />
disused mines at Allmannajuvet that date from<br />
the 1800s and where renowned architect, Peter<br />
Zumthor, has designed a new visitor centre to be<br />
completed in 2014. In Sauda you’ll fi nd a busy<br />
town centre, living history and a rich cultural life.<br />

hamn to Ferkingstad on the west side of Karmøy. there are<br />
cultural and historic monuments that can be seen between<br />
Åkra and the site of the old boathouse at hop. the hike can<br />
commence at the north end of Åkrasanden beach. From<br />
here there is a fabulous view of the white beaches that<br />
stretch along the coastline. the hike follows a natural track<br />
from which you can also experience the rich fauna and birdlife<br />
of the area. the hike ends at the Fisherman’s memorial,<br />
a monument erected in memory of the local fishermen who<br />
lost their lives at sea. commence at the naturbarnehagen<br />
kindergarten or the parking area at the red cross center.<br />
