Hunting for the ”lady in the Park”<br />

Adventure Hunt in Skudesneshavn (Karmøy)<br />

the adventure hunt is an activity rebus for those with an<br />

adventurous spirit who visit skudeneshavn. an expedition<br />

of discovery through the streets of old skudeneshavn takes<br />

about 1.5 hours and can be combined with a stop in the<br />

park, games, or a café visit. on the adventure hunt one<br />

can become better acquainted with the history of skudeneshavn,<br />

where there are traces of the fisheries era, coastal<br />

culture and town life. the aim of the adventure hunt is to<br />

discover a real masthead known as “the Lady in the Park”. a<br />

map and diploma can be obtained at the tourist information<br />

office in skudeneshavn, the Worlds smallest Café, Majorstua<br />

Grindafjord Holiday Centre (Tysvær)<br />

grindafjord holiday Centre has activities that can fill an<br />

entire day. these include a 2000m² saltwater swimming<br />

pool with slides, a playground, a trampoline park, and<br />

basketball, football, and sand volleyball courts. the holiday<br />

centre has a long shoreline with its own beach and rents out<br />

boats and canoes. in addition, you can play mini-golf or visit<br />

Tysværtunet Cultural Centre (Tysvær)<br />

amenities at tyværtunet Cultural Centre include cinema,<br />

climbing wall, sports centre, café, and not least, a fantastic<br />

swimming pool. Children can tumble about in the two pools<br />

that are equipped with slides, diving tower, and grotto. the<br />

temperature is maintained at a very comfortable 30 degrees<br />

in the large pool, and at 34 degrees in the children’s pool.<br />

at dokken you can see and experience seahouses with living<br />

quarters, a herring salting works, a cooper’s workshop,<br />

and houses and apartments from various periods in time.<br />

the boathouse has a cooper’s fireplace and baking oven that<br />

is used on activity days. Children are welcome to make small<br />

boats in the “harbour Basin”, or borrow a life jacket and crab<br />

Dokken Open-air Museum (<strong>Haugesund</strong>)<br />

Borrow the row boat and life jackets provided by the outdoor<br />

amenity service. take a rowing trip over the sound<br />

or to vibrandsøy. Opening times: sun-Fri: 11:00-16:00 (mid<br />

June to mid august). summer season, otherwise by arrangement.<br />

exciting outdoor museum<br />

Ørpetveit Farm Museum (<strong>Haugesund</strong>)<br />

the museum provides children with a chance to see the<br />

hens in the henhouse, and the sheep in the fields as they<br />

graze in the cultural landscape. the farm is open to everyone<br />

and snack food or sandwiches can be enjoyed. the farm<br />

museum consists of living quarters and barns dating from<br />

the 1800s. an information board and map is available. the<br />

farm is located just east of the Biltema store at Raglamyr.<br />
