RNA Transfection: The Broad Spectrum TransIT-mRNA Kit
The transfection of RNA molecules into mammalian cells can be used for a variety of experimental
purposes such as rapid, short-term protein expression after mRNA transfection or production
of infectious RNA virus after transfection of the viral genomic RNA. Both applications require a
transfection reagent that delivers RNA molecules with high efficiency and low cellular toxicity.
Mirus Bio developed the TransIT-mRNA Transfection Kit for the high efficiency, low toxicity transfection
of mRNA and viral RNAs.
Benefits of TransIT-mRNA Transfection Kit Over Other Commercially Available Reagents:
Ease-of-Use: A simple protocol with no required media changes saves valuable time.
Low Cellular Toxicity: Maintains cell density and reduces the introduction of experimental
biases.
High Efficiency Transfection: Transfection of a large percentage of the cell population ensures
experimental success.
Serum Compatible: Transfections are performed in the presence of serum, which eliminates
media changes and enhances cell viability.
Transfects Various Sizes of RNA: Ideal for applications such as RNA virus production and
short-term protein expression from transfected mRNA.
The TransIT-mRNA Transfection
Kit Efficiently Delivers mRNA to a
Variety of Cell Lines. The indicated
cell lines were transfected with
0.5 µg of a capped, polyadenylated
in vitro transcript encoding EGFP
using the TransIT-mRNA Transfection
Kit. Eighteen hours post-transfection,
the cells were analyzed by
flow cytometry to identify the EGFP
expressing cells.
Nontransfected lacZ mRNA Transfected
The TransIT-mRNA Transfection Kit Efficiently Delivers lacZ mRNA to
CHO-K1 Cells. Using the TransIT-mRNA Transfection Kit, CHO-K1 cells
were mock transfected (A) or transfected with a capped and polyadenylated
lacZ encoding mRNA (B). Approximately 18 hrs post-transfection the
cells were stained using Mirus Bio’s Beta-gal Staining Kit to identify the
lacZ expressing cells.
