Description: This long, thin, antithrowback expulsion grenade contains pulverized chemical<br />

agents <strong>and</strong> has a carbon dioxide cartridge in the center. The oleoresin capsicum (OC) is expelled<br />

by the release <strong>of</strong> gas from the carbon dioxide cartridge after a 1-second delay. The cartridge<br />

disperses irritant through two ports along the side <strong>of</strong> the grenade <strong>and</strong> a foam bumper on the base.<br />

Operational Capability/Use: Because it contains no pyrotechnics, this grenade is suitable for<br />

indoor/outdoor use. The irritant fills a 10- by 20-foot room in 5 seconds.<br />

Description: This grenade weighs 11.4 ounces <strong>and</strong> has a rubber ball body containing additional<br />

smaller rubber balls. It contains a pelletized agent <strong>and</strong> is made with a fly-<strong>of</strong>f fuse.<br />

Operational Capability/Use: This grenade can be thrown or launched from a weapon. The<br />

oleoresin capsicum (OC)/CS discharges from four ports on the side <strong>of</strong> the grenade. When<br />

deployed, the larger ball breaks into halves <strong>and</strong> disperses the smaller balls in a circular pattern.<br />

The grenade disperses 9.9 grams <strong>of</strong> OC/CS powder when it is deployed.<br />
