3. Section 3 - General<br />
3.1. Mission and Authority<br />
3.1.1. The mission of the Canadian Lacrosse Association is to promote, develop<br />
and preserve the sport of Lacrosse and its heritage as Canada's National<br />
Summer Sport, working with our partners, to ensure that opportunities exist<br />
for individuals to participate and achieve excellence.<br />
3.1.2. The affairs of the Association are conducted on a day-to-day basis, guided by<br />
the Letters Patent, Bylaws and Regualtions in this Manual.<br />
3.1.3. It is the responsibility of all Members, the Directors and the Staff, to follow this<br />
manual.<br />
3.1.4. Should conflict arise between the Regulations and either the Letters Patent or<br />
the Bylaws of the Association, the Letters Patent and Bylaws shall govern.<br />
3.2. Exclusive Jurisdiction<br />
3.2.1. Board Decisions – Final and Binding<br />
3.2.1.1. All Members, Lacrosse Teams, Players, Coaches, Managers, Trainers<br />
and Officials, by virtue and because of their status as such, shall accept<br />
as final and binding the decisions of the Board of Directors, including,<br />
without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Board’s interpretation or<br />
construction of the Objectives, Rules, Regulations and Bylaws.<br />
3.2.2. Court Actions<br />
3.2.2.1. All Members, Lacrosse Teams, Players, Coaches, Managers, Trainers<br />
and Officials, by virtue and because of their status as such, agree that any<br />
recourse to any court of law of any jurisdiction prior to all rights and<br />
available remedies as provided by these regulations, have been<br />
exhausted, is prohibited. Further all Members, Lacrosse Teams, Players,<br />
Coaches, Managers, Trainers and Officials, agree and consent, by virtue<br />
of the privileges that attach to each respective position to have any such<br />
action stricken if the Available Remedies have not been exhausted.<br />
Further, any such recourse to the law courts as aforesaid shall be deemed<br />
by the CLA to be unsportspersonlike conduct enabling the President to<br />
suspend the said persons.<br />
3.3. Governance Structure<br />
3.3.1. The Association is governed by a Board of Directors which is comprised of<br />
the representatives of each Member Association, the Executive Committee,<br />
the First Nations Director, the Hall of Fame Director and the Past President.<br />
3.3.2. Sectors are established for Box, Men’s Field, Women’s Field, Intercrosse,<br />
Coaching and Officiating. They are responsible for the activity and<br />
development of their respective disciplines in accordance with Board<br />
regulations and direction. Chairpersons of each Sector are elected at the<br />
meeting of the Sector at the SAGM.<br />
