Last week we held a
joint meeting with our
friends from the Bay club.
It’s good getting to know
our fellow Rotarians and
learning about their club.
A n d o f c o u r s e , t h e
fellowship is always great.
No there won’t be a formal
merger of the two clubs
but we will have many
opportunities to work
together on projects that
require mutual support. Its
about Friendship. And as
Cole Porter put it in his
famed number Friendship
If you're ever in a jam, here I am

If you ever feel so happy you land
in jail, I'm your bail
It's friendship, friendship
Just a perfect blendship
When other friendships have
been forgot Ours will still be hot

Here We Grow Again !!!!!
And so it is, though we
remain as two clubs, we
will always be one Rotary.
During our joint
m e e t i n g w e h a d t h e
opportunity to meet our
new District Governor and
his spouse Steve and Pam
Schlueter. As our District
Governor he outlined a
l i t t le a b o u t w hat h e
expects from each club. He
elaborated on just what
R o t a r y I n t e r n a t i o n a l
President, Sajuki Tanaka
is hoping to achieve and
why he selected as his
theme “Peace through
Service.” As Rotarians
a n d a m b a s s a d o r s o f
goodwill I believe it is real
easy for us to understand
that as we serve our fellow
man we will indeed bring
about peace. Together lets
discover the joy of service.

Another highlight
from that meeting was that
our newest club member,
Sophia Friedman had the
privilege of being inducted
into our club by District
Governor Steve Schlueter.
Sophia, is now a full fledge
Rotarian and the newest
member to join the ranks
of the Sarasota K eys
Rotary Club. Sophia is a
retired Music Instructor.

and her sponsor Lee.

After a very busy
and hectic summer we are
very glad to have our
President Rick Thie back.
Today he will be behind
the podium with gavel in
hand. On his first day back
he will have the pleasure of
inducting new member,
Mary Lindamood. Mary is
being sponsored by Marie
Squattrito. Welcome home
Rick and welcome to our
club Mary.
This has been a
busy summer for us, but a
great one. Our club is
growing!!!

Members Corner
We had our last
meeting with the Bay club
last Tuesday at the Van
W a z e l . T h e D i s t r i c t
governor and his wife, Pam
and Steve Schuelter were
present and Sofia Friedman
was inducted as a new
member of our club by the
District Governor. Please
congratulate her.
I understand the Bay
Club is probably going
continue their meeting at the
Van Wazel.
I w a s a l i t t l e
disappointed no one from
our club showed up for the
Health Career Club meeting,
even though ample advice
was given of the seminar. It
was an excellent seminar on
Oncology. There were 22
students representing many
high Schools in our area.
Some came from Venice,
P i n e v i e w , R i v e r v i e w ,
Sarasota High and the
Sarasota Military Academy.
Cynthia Dunlap of the
American Cancer Society
spoke about the availability
of the many free services to
cancer patients. They will
provide rides for treatment,
a s s i s t w i t h f i n a n c i a l
problems. They offer a wide
variety of services including
c l a s s e s o n e q u i p p i n g
yourself for treatment,
advice for treatment, and
dietary advice. The next
meeting will be on October
1,at 6 PM in the auditorium.
The Topic is Dentistry. The
speaker will be Dr. T.
Gilleland.
The Interact Club
had their first meeting on
September 11, 2012. There
will be a new teacher who
will guide the group. Her
name is Jessica Lucas. They
a r e p l a n n i n g m a n y
community projects.
A guest at the Interact
meeting was Deri Joy Ronis
PhD, She is fully familiar
with Rotary and is a former
Ambassadorial scholar. She

also was on the Rotary
cruise that gave wheel chairs
to people in Belize. She is
with the Conflict Resolution
Center. I think that she
would be a good speaker for
our club. Maybe we can
persuade her to join. I did
mention it to her. She has
just moved here and is not
quiet ready yet.
It should be noted Ed
Zanetti won our jack pot a
few weeks back and he
donated $100 to the club. He
won the 50/50 in our
September 8, meeting but
no Jack Pot. I guess he is
waiting for the pot to get a
little bit bigger. But club
members be warned, I don’t
think we can count Marie
out of the running just yet. I
think she is just laying low
for now.
