A little bit of humor, an
old familiar tune, a few funny
anecdotes and one powerful
message.
Ron’s back. We
enjoyed him a couple of years
ago when he gave a humorous
talk on the merits of golf. Last
week, he proved to live up to
his reputation of being quite a
spokesman. His newest artistic
endeavor, “Three Minutes
That are Simply Fascinating”
proves to be a thought
provoking anecdotal,
collection of life experiences
that inspires the reader to
search for meaning in their
existence on earth.
In a humorous
manner he challenges the
reader to live life to its fullest,
not taking any moment for

Cherish each day and create
the type of memories that you
would like to have.
When asked what
would be his topic, he replied,
“YOU.” And indeed it was. He
addressed and gently
encouraged each Rotarian to
spread the word about the
wonderful work that we are
doing. Invite young
professionals to be a part of
this great organization.
Rotary’s heritage is one that is
rich in philanthropy. We must
encourage businessmen and
women to embrace our vision
and to subscribe to our ethical
standards of conduct.
It is time now that we
see to the propagation of
Rotary, and for each individual
to see the importance of taking
every opportunity to live.
Here are a few
quotes from his book that are
worth committing to memory.
• Don’t be so focused on
attainment that you are out of
focus with living.
• Let every day be discovery day.
Get to know who you are.
• Begin now to be more
patient. Slow the pace by loving
time.
• No matter what your age
is visualize a blackboard with
dates on it. See yourself at 25,
40, 65, and 90. Where do you
want to be? How do you wish
to be living? And, even at 90,
what goals do you want to be
able to set for your future?”
He talked, told
stories, and sprinkled his
message with humor. Ron
even include a couple of

We, as cadets
and officers of the Sarasota
Military Academy Interact
Club would like to extend
our hands in gratitude
towards you and all of the
members of the Rotary
Club of Sarasota Keys.
Thus far, this year
has kicked off superbly.
start. It is obvious that this
year’s Interact Club is
exceedingly motivated and
driven with the utmost
ambition to serve our
community and represent
Rotary International.
In just three short
weeks, we have already
undertaken a number of
projects. To begin the
season, we hosted a "Beach
Team-building BBQ" at
Siesta Key. This was termed
our "fellowship," to pump
up our cadets for this year,
and welcome incoming
students to the Interact
team.
Currently we are
preparing for what we call
"Supporting SIDS
September". New to this
Member’s Corner: Tony I.
Watch for the
grand opening of the
Norwalk furniture store in
October. Herb Jones and
his son Mark are the
owners but Mark will be
president and will be
responsible for most of the
operation. Also under
consideration is another
store, possibly in Lakewood
Ranch. So hold off on
buying new furniture
Member Ditmar
has returned after spending
the summer touring France,
Greece, Spain and Italy.
Welcome Back. Have you
been to Arcadia yet?
Our president
Marvin, has joined the
year, we have decided to
dedicate each month to a
different cause or charity.
Our first month,
September, is dedicated to
SIDS; Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome. We will be
hosting the first ever SMA
Talent Show on September
14th at 7:30 pm in the SMA
cafeteria (you are all invited
to join us). We will also be
raffling off a gift basket and
a brand new bicycle with
proceeds to benefit SIDS as
well. We want to thank Mr.
Jones and Mr. Tony for
their tremendous generosity
in support of this raffle
with their commitment of
buying "at least 50 tickets."
In addition, in
September, we will be
selling red, white and blue
"memory cards" to
commemorate the tragedy
of September 11, 2001.
These cards will be
assembled together to
create a very large American
flag. These proceeds will
benefit the 911 survivor
fund.
Faculty of the Rotary
Leadership Institute as a
discussion leader. He served
as a facilitator for the
institute in Oviedo last
weekend. This week he will
go to Clearwater. We are
proud of you, Marvin. Next
step is District Governor.

Lake Tahoe waterfront. I
wrote back and told Dave I
detected some Red tide in
the water.
We had a table of
members at the Gift of Life
dinner in Tampa on Saturday

In October, we are
planning to volunteer at the
finish line of the 3-day (60
mile) Breast Cancer walk,
which begins in Tampa and
ends in St Petersburg. We
also still have a limited
quantity of the first annual
SMA cookbook for sale for
only $ 15.00 and are
planning at least two car
washes before the year end.
It should be quite
evident that the Interact
Club at SMA is extremely
active and energized this
year.
We will do our best
to make all of you, proud
and keep you updated on
our progress and new
projects throughout the
year. We are all looking
forward to maintaining a
fun-filled and highly
productive club this year
and we thank you for your
endless support and
guidance.
