<strong>Institute</strong> <strong>for</strong> advanced study<br />
two-thirds of <strong>the</strong> annual operating budget. Ano<strong>the</strong>r third is provided through<br />
support from foundations, corporations, private gifts and federal agency grants.<br />
Important additional support comes from corporate and foundation sources out-<br />
side <strong>the</strong> United States. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> is governed by an elected Board of Trustees<br />
which appoints a Director to oversee its operations and guide its development.<br />
Set on about 800 acres of fields and woodlands in Princeton, New Jersey, <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Institute</strong> campus includes a housing complex <strong>for</strong> Members and two libraries.<br />
Though independent from Princeton University, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> and <strong>the</strong> University<br />
have enjoyed a close relationship since <strong>the</strong> 1930s. Each has significantly contrib-<br />
uted to Princeton's world-wide reputation as a center <strong>for</strong> scholarship and science.<br />
