“Gellhorn is incapable of writing a dull sentence.”
—The Times (London)
and a short fuse. There is not a boring word in her
humane and often funny book.”
—The New York Times
“Martha Gellhorn—a woman before her time—left
behind a gem of a travelogue, sewn with the requisite
nightmares and epiphanies, but imparted with a wink,
as if to a friend.” —Deborah Copaken Kogan,
author of Shutterbabe
