“MINI ONE DAY EVENT” FOR NOVICE RIDERS<br />

(18 years & under and NOT to have competed at Helsington)<br />

To be held at: Lane Farm, Crooklands<br />

Saturday 15 th June 2013 - Commencing at 10.00am prompt<br />

£11.00 members £17.00 non-members (including 1 st Aid)<br />

This a NOVICE Training Event and is intended for riders who want to know what a One Day Event is like,<br />

but who do not yet have the experience to enter a “real” one!<br />

Ages as at 1st January 2013<br />

Class 1. Lead Rein <strong>Pony</strong> <strong>Club</strong> - Level D (walk/trot)<br />

Class 2. Riders ‘just off’ lead rein “ “<br />

Class 3. Riders aged 10 years old and under “ Level C<br />

Class 4. “ “ 11 and 12 years old “ “<br />

Class 5. “ “ 13/14/15 years old “ “<br />

Class 6. “ “ 16/17/18 years old “ “<br />

Class 7. Adult – aged 18 years and over “ Introductory Test 2007<br />

Show jumping - over a friendly and inviting course of show jumps starting at cross pole level for Class 1<br />

Cross Country - jumps over working hunter jumps, again starting at cross pole level for Class 1<br />

*** As in any One Day Event, Back protectors, long sleeves and medical armbands MUST be worn***<br />

We recommend skull caps are worn by riders aged 9 years and over<br />

Catering available FIRST AID Veterinary Surgeons on call<br />

- it is YOUR responsibility to arrive at any <strong>Pony</strong> <strong>Club</strong> event correctly prepared<br />

OXENHOLME PONY CLUB - Rules and Regulations<br />

1. Non-competitive entries will be accepted by combination of horse & rider wishing to enter a class lower or higher<br />

than their proper height/age, but after competing non-competitively, that combination will be non-competitive<br />

for the remainder of the day. If in doubt please do ask.<br />

2. All entries must be accompanied by payment in full, if by cheque payable to ‘<strong>Oxenholme</strong> <strong>Pony</strong> <strong>Club</strong>’<br />

3. A horse/pony may only be entered once in each class. A rider can ride more than one horse/pony per class<br />

4. Hard hats and correct dress must be worn at all competitions. Hats to the correct standard – PAS 015 or ASTM<br />

F1163, AS/NZS 3838 1998, SNELL E2001 or EN1384 and must fit correctly<br />

5. Back protectors and long sleeves MUST be worn for any Cross Country event<br />

6. Snaffle bridles ONLY for Dressage class. Martingales and boots recommended for jumping phases<br />

7. No lunging on the show field without permission from the DC<br />

8. All hair should be securely tied up and worn tidily in a hair net<br />

9. <strong>Pony</strong> club members wishing to wear spurs must have written permission from their DC<br />

NOTICE TO ALL PERSONS ATTENDING THIS EVENT<br />

It is most important that any incident involving:<br />

1. Accident, illness or injury to any rider, spectator or any other person present at the event<br />

2. Accident injury to any horse or other animal, whether competing at the event or not<br />

3. Damage to any property or vehicle<br />

is reported to the organisers immediately<br />

HEALTH & SAFETY<br />

<strong>The</strong> organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.<br />

For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents<br />

occurring and must obey the instructions of all the Officials and Stewards. <strong>The</strong> risk assessment for this event can be<br />

inspected on request.<br />

LEGAL LIABILITY<br />

Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law<br />

responsible, neither the organisers of this event, nor the <strong>Pony</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, nor the agent, employee or representative of these<br />

bodies, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land,<br />

cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence,<br />

breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Pony</strong> <strong>Club</strong>’s purpose is to:-<br />

encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with ponies and riding<br />

give instruction in riding and ‘horsemastership’<br />

educate Members to look after and take proper care of their animals<br />

promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty<br />

create strength of character and self-discipline
