and the residents of Carroll County in 2010. They handled 38 special event assignments, three emergency activations and fingerprinted over three hundred people. From January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2010, the Auxiliary Patrol Volunteers had dedicated 12,368 hours to the Sheriff’s Office and the residents of Carroll County. Auxiliary Patrol Volunteers received the following service awards in 2010: Tim Stamper, Albert Murphy 1,000 hours; Michael Kozak, Robert Moore 500 hours, Lee Shaffer and Pat Geyer 200 hours. Fiscal Services Coordinator Mr. Mr Doug Abbott Abb bbott Resource Services Division Logistical Services The Logistical Services Coordinator, Terry Brown, completed an analysis of all equipment associated with the patrol vehicles in order to significantly reduce that cost in preparation for large purchases of vehicles if a transition was approved by the Board of County Commissioners. Mr. Brown also continued to monitor and manage costs associated with office supplies, clothing and uniforms, and law enforcement equipment. As the “go-to-person” for almost anything, the Logistical Coordinator has proven to be an essential position who becomes involved in all multi-faceted projects. Whether it is ensuring an appropriate location or the appearance of all necessary equipment, Mr. Brown is always behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly. Logistical Services Assistant t Mr. Terry Brownn Fiscal F Services The Fiscal Coordinator, Doug Abbott, monitors the t budget, revenues and grants. His hard work and a diligence with grants helped to secure funds for f new Mobile Data Computers, overtime for special s enforcement activities, and the pending implementation i of the E-tix program. Mr. Abbott, a 26 year veteran of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, O helped employees complete documents related to t reimbursable benefits, travel documents related to specialized s training and helped MSB Chief Schubert monitor m a very tight budget. He also ensured that all a reimbursable assignments were completed, billed and a paid in a timely manner. Mr. Abbott has proven himself to be extremely capable c with spreadsheets, budgets, grants, accounts a receivables, account payables, and project coordination. c As budgets continue to come under scrutiny s during tough fiscal times, Mr. Abbott has managed to keep the Department of Sheriff’s Services fiscally sound and responsible. Personnel Services The first half of 2010 was very active for Personnel Services. As the Carroll County Management and Budget Department made recommendations to increase the number of Deputies by 9 in July, Personnel Services geared up to find 9 strong certified Deputy candidates. Unfortunately, the Carroll County Commissioners did not choose to add the 9 positions, but had they, Personnel Services made sure the CCSO would have been able to fill them. Shortly after the beginning of the new fiscal year, 3 of the 9 certified candidates were brought in to fill positions vacated due to attrition. The second half of the year did not slow down for Personnel Services because the pending election for a new 5 member Board of Carroll County Commissioners opened the possibility of placing 9 recruit candidates into the January, 2011 academy.
