Stamp Announcement <strong>12</strong>-11: Sailboat Stamped Card<br />

On <strong>January</strong> 20, 20<strong>12</strong>, in Oyster Bay, New York, the<br />
<strong>Postal</strong> Service will issue a Sailboat stamped card (Forever<br />
® priced at 32 cents) in one design.<br />
In 20<strong>12</strong>, the U.S. <strong>Postal</strong> Service ® highlights America’s<br />
scenic beauty with a sailboat stamped card. The impressionistic<br />
scene was painted in oil. The sailboat, a onemasted<br />
sloop, rests with its sails furled while a single sailor<br />
stands on deck. Burton Silverman was the stamp artist.<br />
The stamped card will go on sale nationwide<br />
<strong>January</strong> 20, 20<strong>12</strong>.<br />
The Sailboat stamped card will be available in the following<br />
formats:<br />
Single-cut cards (Item 224100).<br />
Double-reply cards (Item 224200).<br />
Sheet of 40 cards (Item 224300).<br />
Distribution: Multiple Items, 32-cent (35-cent<br />
value) Sailboat Stamped Card<br />
Stamp distribution offices (SDOs) and stamp distribution<br />
centers (SDCs) will receive their standard automatic<br />
distribution quantities of the stamped cards. Distributions<br />
are rounded up to the nearest master carton sizes:<br />
Item number 224100, single card, 5,000 cards.<br />
Item number 224200, double reply card, 2,000 cards.<br />
Item number 224300, sheet card, 250 sheets (of 40<br />
cards).<br />
Initial Supply to Post Offices<br />
SDOs/SDCs will not make any automatic distribution to<br />
Post Offices. Post Offices requiring quantities of Items<br />
224100, 224200, or 224300 must requisition them from<br />
their designated SDO/SDC using PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp<br />
Return. Post Offices may preorder from<br />
SDOs/SDCs through the Stamp Services System begin-<br />
ning 30 days prior to the first day of issue. For Post Offices<br />
that have placed orders, initial supplies to the Post Offices<br />
will be shipped as stamps are received at the SDCs from<br />
the stamp printers.<br />
Sales Policy<br />
All Post Offices should maintain a sufficient inventory<br />
level of these items until the cards are officially withdrawn<br />
from sale. If supplies run low, Post Offices must reorder<br />
additional quantities using their normal ordering procedures.<br />
How to Order the First Day of <strong>Is</strong>sue Postmark<br />
Customers have 60 days to obtain the first day of issue<br />
postmark by mail. They may purchase the new stamped<br />
cards at their local Post Office, The <strong>Postal</strong> Store ® website<br />
at www.usps.com/shop, or by calling 800-STAMP 24. They<br />
should address the cards (to themselves or others), and<br />
place them in an envelope addressed to:<br />

After applying the first day of issue postmark, the <strong>Postal</strong><br />
Service will return the cards through the mail. There is no<br />
charge for the postmark. All orders must be postmarked by<br />
March 20, 20<strong>12</strong>.<br />
How to Order First Day Covers<br />
Stamp Fulfillment Services also offers first day covers for<br />
new stamp issues and <strong>Postal</strong> Service stationery items postmarked<br />
with the official first day of issue cancellation. Each<br />
item has an individual catalog number and is offered in the<br />
quarterly USA Philatelic Catalog. Customers may request a<br />
free catalog by calling 800-STAMP-24 or writing to:<br />

Philatelic Products<br />
There are two philatelic products available for this<br />
stamp issue:<br />
224161*, First Day Cover, $0.47.<br />
224261*, First Day Cover Reply Card, $0.82.<br />
Items with an asterisk (*) will use the <strong>12</strong>8 barcode from<br />
Stamp Fulfillment Services. All other philatelic products will<br />
continue to use barcode series A, with the exception of the<br />
Yearbook and the Guide Book.
