Reading <strong>Error</strong> <strong>Messages</strong><br />

Each error message begins with a percent sign and has the following format:<br />

where:<br />

• lists the date and time when the message appeared (e.g., 2002-08-23 14:32:00).<br />

is a code consisting of uppercase letters that indicates the facility to which the error<br />

message refers.<br />

is a single-letter code indicating the severity of the error condition. There are five<br />

severity levels:<br />

– I – informational message (least severe)<br />

– A – audit message<br />

– W – warning condition<br />

– E – error condition<br />

– F – fatal error (most severe)<br />

is a code consisting of uppercase letters that identifies the error message.<br />

is a text string that briefly describes the error condition.<br />

Note: You do not need to respond to informational messages.<br />
