PENNSBURY SUMMER SCHOOL ABROAD<br />
An Invitation to All <strong>Pennsbury</strong> Students:<br />
The Foreign Language Department invites all <strong>Pennsbury</strong> students to join us in Quebec, Canada;<br />
Mexico, or Germany for our summer school abroad program starting in June <strong>2010</strong>. If you would like<br />
to learn or brush up on French, Spanish, or German, this opportunity is an excellent way to do it by<br />
immersing yourself in a foreign culture for a couple of weeks. The program includes travel, daily<br />
excursions, home-stays, and friendship, tons of fun, and memorable experiences, which will last a<br />
lifetime. Bring a friend, or meet new friends! Please ask any foreign language teacher today for more<br />
information on this wonderful opportunity.<br />
PHS MUSIC DEPARTMENT<br />
On Saturday <strong>Mar</strong>ch 6 th , the PHS Concert Choir and The <strong>Pennsbury</strong> Community Chorus will perform<br />
at NYC's CARNEGIE HALL at 8:00 PM with full orchestra. The PHS Concert Choir will sing "Sacred<br />
Songs" by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins - - Dr. Jenkins will conduct the choir with full orchestra.<br />
The combined PHS Concert Choir and <strong>Pennsbury</strong> Community Chorus will sing "DEWI SANT" by<br />
Arwel Hughes (1909-1988) conducted by Dr. Jonathan Griffith with full orchestra as part of WALES<br />
WEEK in NYC (Sponsored by the British/Welsh Consulate). The performance marks the Centenary of<br />
the birth of Arwel Hughes - and the NYC debut of this work. For more information log on to<br />
DCINY.org. Tickets are available through the Carnegie Hall box office ($20 - $100).<br />
On Tuesday <strong>Mar</strong>ch 16th at 8:00 PM the <strong>Pennsbury</strong> HS Choral Department, along with several other<br />
guest choirs/singers will perform the "REQUIEM" of Gabriel Faure in a special benefit concert. All<br />
monies will be sent to Haiti to help earthquake survivors. All seats are $20 and tickets are available at<br />
the door or from the PHS Choral Department. Over 250 plus singers will perform along with guest<br />
instrumentalists who are all donating their time and service to this concert. Grafton Piano and Organ<br />
Company will donate the Allen Digital organ for the concert. Mrs. Robin Park Campbell, a 1988 PHS<br />
graduate and resident of Fairless Hills, was in Haiti on a humanitarian aid trip when the earthquake<br />
struck, and will speak at the beginning of the concert. Joining forces with the PHS Choirs will be<br />
singers from the <strong>Pennsbury</strong> Community Chorus, and singers from various church and community<br />
choruses in both Bucks County, PA and Mercer County, NJ. Members of the PHS National Junior<br />
Honor Society and Student Council are also helping with concert preparations. The performance is in<br />
the East campus auditorium.<br />
On Saturday <strong>Mar</strong>ch 27th at 2:30 PM the 2nd Annual <strong>Pennsbury</strong> Elementary Choral Festival will<br />
feature a choir of 100 plus young voices from across the entire <strong>Pennsbury</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong>. Singers will<br />
come together to work with guest conductor Mrs. Michelle Alford, who is director of the Hopewell<br />
Valley Children's Chorus in NJ. The concert is in the PHS-West Choral/Ensemble room. Admission is<br />
free and open to the public.<br />
