Since last winter, apart from our usual monitoring
and Board responsibilities, the Entity Directors have
been fully involved, in conjunction with the Apata
Directors and Management, in the external review
conducted after the fruit loss situation which
culminated last season.
The Entity Board has been fully informed of
developments and is satisfied that the necessary
steps and controls have been put in place to once
again see Apata packed fruit perform well against
the industry as we have done in the past. An audit
committee made up of Entity Directors and Apata
Board Directors along with Graeme Munro, who
wrote the external review, are regularly monitoring
the key points that were identified are being
adhered to.
It is pleasing to advise that to-date there have
been no major concerns reported. As we move
into main pack it is critical that all parts of the chain
move in a controlled manner, and that is back to
the Growers picking in an orderly way, so that the
curing, packing and cooling of the fruit is controlled
throughout to achieve the result we all want.
Recently the Entity Board reluctantly accepted the
resignation of Kelvin Reynolds who had been a
valued Director for several years. We wish Kelvin
well. The Entity Board has appointed Dave Farr, who
was the unsuccessful candidate at our last Entity
Board elections, as a Director to fill the vacancy
created with Kelvin’s resignation, until the next Entity
AGM which will be in September 2012.
