"My First Tri" Triathlon
Registration
Registration is now open online at
www.active.com for Eglin's 10th
Annual "My First Tri" Triathlon on
June 20. Participants will tackle a 200
meter swim off Eglin's Postl Point,
followed by an 8 mile bike ride and
finishing with a 2.5 mile run. Compete
as an individual or part of a team!
Base personnel should register early
as this is a popular event limited to
the first 325 entries and is open to the

Art Rocks! Camp for Kids
The stage is set for rock artists
everywhere! Art Rocks combines
fun music and energetic art for a
wildly creative adventure. Campers
will make musical instruments,
learn about rhythm and create some
music of their own! They’ll design
a poster promoting a concert, as
well as a unique label for a new
CD. These rock artists will create
their own rock art, design mystifying
paintings to music and try their hand
at melodic action painting. So come
into the spotlight for a rocking good
time!! Preschool Camp for ages 3-5
is July 6-10, 9-11 a.m., $150 per
child. Elementary Camp for ages
6-12 is July 6-10, Noon-3 p.m., $175

Air Force Introduces Island Lake
Summer Camp Opportunity
Looking for a summer camp opportunity for youth
entering grades 3 through 8? Consider having your
youth apply for one of five chances for Air Force youth
to attend Island Lake Camp, Aug. 4-17, located in the
Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Camp tuition is
being provided at no-cost through a generous offer
from the Island Lake Camp owners who wish to support
military families by providing each of the services
branches free spaces at the camp. Parents are
responsible for transportation either to/from the camp
or one of the bus pickup points - Queens, NY; Yonkers,
NY; Paramus, NJ; Livingston, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; and
the Newark, NJ Airport (for flying campers).
Island Lake Camp offers youth a chance to participate
and develop their interest in a variety of camp offerings,
to include: mountain biking, circus techniques,
skateboarding, dance, pioneering, gymnastics, science,
theatre, horseback riding, technology, music, water

It’s all about scale in this creative
camp that will delight kids as they
create art that challenges dimensions
– from enormous to miniature.
Campers will create awe-inspiring art
inspired by the world-touring Cool
Globe Project, sculpting both gigantic
and small sculptures using recycled
products. They'll also make murals and
geometric sculptures, play creativity
games with music and much more!
This camp is not a teeny, tiny bit shy
about promising big, gigantic, huge,
and rewarding FUN! Preschool Camp
for ages 3-5 is July 27-31, 9-11 a.m.,

instruction to help develop poise and mastery of

Interested youth must submit a one to two-page essay
addressing the question, “What it would mean to me
to get to go to Island Lake Camp this summer”. Youth
affected by current or recent parental deployment
should indicate such in their essay and will be given
higher priority for camp selection. All Air Force
