2001-02 Season in Review/Results<br />
Sept. 21—The Huskies opened the dual<br />
meet season by dropping a 7-2 decision to<br />
Pittsburgh. Erin Bartsch and Katie Kochera<br />
were the lone winners for the Huskies.<br />
Sept. 29-Oct. 1—<strong>Bloomsburg</strong> hosted the<br />
ITA East Regional championships and saw<br />
Erin Bartsch earn a trip to the ITA<br />
championships by winning the “A” singles<br />
title with a win over Anna Burakova of<br />
Dowling College in set straights, 7-6 (5),<br />
6-1.<br />
Oct. 14—The Huskies dropped their<br />
second match in a row to start the year<br />
with a tough 5-4 loss to Slippery Rock.<br />
<strong>Bloomsburg</strong> came back later in the day to<br />
win its first match of the year, 8-1, over<br />
West Chester.<br />
Feb. 8—Despite taking two of the three<br />
doubles matches to earn one team point,<br />
the Huskies dropped five of six singles<br />
matches in a 5-2 loss to Colgate. It was the<br />
first match of the 2002 calendar year for<br />
<strong>Bloomsburg</strong>.<br />
Mar. 11-14—On the team’s annual<br />
southern spring trip, the Huskies won<br />
three of the four matches it played. After<br />
losing to Division I Indiana St., the<br />
Huskies routed Skidmore, 8-1, and<br />
Shippensburg and Edinboro by scores of<br />
9-0. Against the Lady Raiders the Huskies<br />
lost just nine games during the singles<br />
portion of play.<br />

2001-02 RESULTS (11-8)<br />
Apr. 5-6—The Huskies hosted the<br />
<strong>Bloomsburg</strong> Duals and beat Concordia and<br />
Franklin Pierce by 9-0 scores. <strong>Bloomsburg</strong><br />
lost just seven games to Franklin Pierce<br />
while going to 6-5 on the year.<br />
Apr. 10—PSAC rival Kutztown proved no<br />
match for the Huskies in an 9-0 victory.<br />
<strong>Bloomsburg</strong> won each singles match in<br />
straight sets.<br />
Apr. 19-21—At the PSAC championships<br />
the Huskies cruised to the finals with wins<br />
over Shippensburg and Slippery Rock by<br />
indentical, 5-0 scores. In the finals the<br />
Huskies faced longtime rival Millersville<br />
and dropped a 5-4 decision to the<br />
Marauders. Erin Bartsch was a two-time<br />
winner for the Huskies. In singles play she<br />
beat former Husky Heather Miller in<br />
straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.<br />
May 3-4—The Huskies hosted the NCAA<br />
East Regional championships and swept<br />
their way to victory. <strong>Bloomsburg</strong> beat<br />
Queens College of NY 5-0 in the<br />
semifinals and then defeated top-seed<br />
Slippery Rock, 5-0, to earn a trip to the<br />
national championship round. In the title<br />
match Beth Fulton won 6-0, 6-0, at<br />
number three singles.<br />
May 9—The Huskies’ season comes to an<br />
end at the NCAA championships in Kansas<br />
City, MO. <strong>Bloomsburg</strong> falls to Barry, 5-0.<br />
