HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARS<br />

High school students who have completed their sophomore or junior year with a minimum<br />

<strong>of</strong> a B+ grade average may take one <strong>University</strong> course each term until they graduate<br />

from high school. Courses may be taken for credit or for audit at a special tuition rate <strong>of</strong><br />

$100 per credit.<br />

Students may enroll for a maximum <strong>of</strong> three credits per session. Individual exceptions<br />

may be made if GPA/SAT scores substantiate the request. Registrations will be processed<br />

on a space-available basis. Students will be responsible for tuition and applicable fees.<br />

Courses available are typical freshman-level courses that are accepted towards a<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> degree. <strong>The</strong> current <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> undergraduate catalog<br />

includes details regarding curricular requirements for <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> degree programs.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se courses generally transfer to other regionally accredited colleges and universities.<br />

However, the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> cannot guarantee transferability.<br />

Five tuition grants are available during the summer to individuals with demonstrated<br />

financial need. Grants are limited to one course per individual per year, a $300 value.<br />

A special orientation program will be held for students registered in the High School<br />

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE POLICY<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> grants college credit for classes taken through a recognized<br />

International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Students can earn credit for up to three successfully<br />

completed higher level classes in which a score <strong>of</strong> “4” or higher is achieved on the<br />

appropriate IB examination. For more information on IB credit, contact the admissions<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

TRANSFER STUDENTS<br />

Students who wish to transfer to <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> must submit applications<br />

and the usual credentials: <strong>of</strong>ficial high school records, SAT scores and transcript(s) from the<br />

college(s) attended. At the discretion <strong>of</strong> the Admissions Committee, students from other<br />

accredited colleges may be admitted provided: 1. <strong>The</strong> courses to be transferred are equivalent<br />

or comparable to courses <strong>of</strong>fered at <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong>; 2. Students are<br />

required to follow all requirements prescribed for the degree program at <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Scranton</strong>. 3. No credit will be given for courses with grades less than “C”. Transfer credit<br />

is reviewed on an individual basis. Students transferring are required to earn a minimum <strong>of</strong><br />

30 credits for an associate’s degree or 63 credits for a baccalaureate degree at <strong>The</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong>. Special orientation sessions are held for transfer students. It should<br />

be noted that some departments require that at least half <strong>of</strong> the credits in the student’s major<br />

be taken here at the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

VALIDATION OF BUSINESS TRANSFER COURSES<br />

Students may validate courses by successfully completing one or more advanced<br />

courses in the subject for which the course in transfer is a foundation course. Approval is<br />

granted by the dean <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Kania School <strong>of</strong> Management. This applies only to lower-division<br />

transfer courses which the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers at the upper-division level.<br />
