System design has four phases:
Input Design
Output Design
Database Design
Process Design
5.1 Input Design
Input screen has to be designed so simple that the use can enter the
data easily. The input design involves determining what the inputs are, how the
data should be performed, how to validate data, how to minimize data, how to
minimize data entry and how to provide a multi user facility. In accurate input,
data are the most common cause of errors in data processing. Errors entered by
data entry operators can be controlled by input design. Input design is the process
of converting the user-originated inputs to a computer-based format. Input data are
collected and organized into groups of similar data. Once identified, appropriate
input media are selected for processing.
The input medium used is keyboard. The main input forms of
―Callipers – The training Manager‖ are details of adding, editing and deleting of
courses, trainers and trainees. The forms for messaging and discussion forums are
also important. These screens are provided in the appendix.
5.2 Output Design
The output of a system is primary contact between the system and
most of the users. And the output of the system is of interest of users; what is the
end product of processing? What information is available from the system? What
input is required to produce the desired output? The output should be in such a
