1839, this community was the<br />

site of an early ferry cross<strong>in</strong>g on<br />

the Colorado River and grew to<br />

<strong>in</strong>clude numerous bus<strong>in</strong>esses,<br />

homes and farms. Still primarily<br />

an <strong>African</strong> American enclave,<br />
