black home owners of her time<br />

houses <strong>in</strong> Bastrop built by a<br />

Mount Zion United Methodist Church<br />

<strong>in</strong> 1893 dur<strong>in</strong>g the cotton boom<br />

when the black community of<br />

Belton was rapidly grow<strong>in</strong>g. It is<br />

one of the few surviv<strong>in</strong>g early<br />

black churches <strong>in</strong> Bell County. NR<br />
