<strong>The</strong> JV Red Football team finished the year 9 – 0. <strong>The</strong>y were 8 – 0 in non district play and 5 – 0 in<br />

district play. <strong>The</strong> JV Red team played their final game against Conroe. <strong>The</strong>y beat Conroe 28 – 8. Some<br />

offensive standouts were Sterling Scott, Andres Chacon, Kyle Glaesman, Jeremy Davis Harper, Will<br />

Larza, Nic Lee, Scott Meinhold, Izurietta Canales, Chris Kinzie, Sean Johnson, Kyle Cicio, Renzo<br />

Gonzales, Jonathan Diaz, Robert Belk, Aramis Guerra, Robert LeGoubin, and Curren Noel. Some<br />

defensive standouts in this game were Jack Morris, Thomas Gilstrap, Kris Larsen, Ricardo Trevino, Zach<br />

Thomas, Diego Llanes, Seth Johnson, John Sibal, Adam Lowell, Eric Ledoux, Rueben Tamez, Greyson<br />

Scudder, Chris Fetterman, Garrett Soileau, Justin Camero, Tanner Birdsong, Justin Martin and Cameron<br />

Babin. A special note goes to Cole Herring, Dean Sudderth, and Evan Brain for helping on the sideline<br />

with equipment. <strong>The</strong> JV Red team had an outstanding year by finishing as district champs. Thank you,<br />

to all those who support these young men.<br />

NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY - NEHS will be meeting in the LGI for all meetings this<br />

year. With more than 80 members, the LGI has the room we need. Anyone who has not paid the $35 dues<br />

by Wednesday, 11-16-2011, will be dropped from membership. Come to one of the sponsors, if there is a<br />

problem. At the December6th meeting, membership pins will be distributed. <strong>The</strong>re will only be five<br />

meetings after that, 01-03, 02-07, 03-06, 04-03, and the May banquet (TBA). Remember to sign up for a<br />

Reading Buddy and be there for that student.<br />

LADY HIGHLANDER BASKETBALL - Congratulations to Lady <strong>High</strong>lander Basketball players,<br />

Anna Strickland, Maghen Lormand, and Paige Bradley. All have committed to play at the collegiate<br />

level. Anna has chosen Harding University. Maghen will be playing basketball for Concordia and Paige<br />

Bradley will be suiting up for University of Denver. All three girls are incredible hard workers and<br />

deserve all the accolades they can collect.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Lady <strong>High</strong>lander Basketball program took to the court for the 2011-2012 season with a fury. First<br />

two days of play the program boasted an 8-0 record. All teams swept Spring for the season opening game<br />

and headed into tournament play later in the week with wins all around.<br />

Varsity dominated Spring 81-26 in their season opener, with ten out of eleven players contributing on the<br />

scoreboard. Kelsey Lang led the points with 17, Anna Strickland pulled down a “double-double” with 15<br />

points and 10 boards. Ashlyn Hargraves was ripping from the outside with <strong>14</strong> points. Paige Bradley<br />

finished out the leaders with 9 points and 9 assists. Maghen Lormand chipped in 6 with 9 boards.<br />

Kristin Mahoney added 8, Kara Evans 6, Chrissy Ray 4 and Nicole Iademarco and Amy Cusimano<br />

finished with 2 each.<br />

Tournament play opened against Tomball in the Conroe Invitational. Once again a total team effort with<br />

nine out of eleven contributors on the scoreboard. Kelsey Lang and Anna Strickland led the group again<br />

with 10 each. Kara Evans and Paige Bradley each added eight. Chrissy Ray specialized in rejecting the<br />

other team’s offense with 5 blocks while Amy Cusimano applied extreme defensive pressure to help the<br />

Lady <strong>High</strong>landers force 31 turnovers from Tomball.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Lady <strong>High</strong>lander JV Girls basketball team has started the season off strong with a 2-0 record. <strong>The</strong><br />

girls beat Spring Tuesday night 49-37... Leading scorers were Megan Fogarty with <strong>14</strong> and Morgan<br />

Henderson with 8. Thursday the girls started play in the Oak Ridge Tournament by defeating Klein 42-<br />

24... Leading scorers were Morgan Henderson with 16 and Ellen Hall with 8. <strong>The</strong> Lady <strong>High</strong>landers look<br />

to bring home the tournament championship again this year.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Freshman Red team has started the year with two great wins. <strong>The</strong>y opened the season with Spring<br />

and won 57-10. <strong>The</strong> leading scorer was Alexis Heathcock with 13 points. <strong>The</strong> Red team continued with<br />

a win on Thursday night against Kingwood Park, 48-3. Leading scorer was Alexis Heathcock with 18.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Freshmen Green team is off to a terrific start for the season. In our opening game we faced off<br />

against Spring <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> winning 27 - 15. Everyone on the team contributed to the win with Ashley<br />

Johnson and Maddie Fitzpatrick leading the way with 10 and 5 points respectively. Our second game of<br />

the season came in the <strong>The</strong> <strong>Woodlands</strong> Freshmen Tournament where we faced off against a second
