a strong sense of welcome at a
variety of levels. Paths,
bridleways and glades are well
managed with a feeling of
openness that encourages a
sense of personal safety. The
entire area was virtually litter free
and there was little evidence of
misuse, vandalism, neglect or
erosion. Signage was good
without being intrusive.

The site scored highly in this area
overall with high standards of
woodland maintenance and visitor
access evident.
However timer yard site needs
considerably work in order to
match the high standards
achieved elsewhere on the site.

number on signs, leaflets and other

Improve / replace toilet facilities.
Action
Emergency contact information will
be added to interpretative panels
and notice boards by Spring 2007.
The leaflets will be improved to
include emergency contact details
as they are re-printed or replaced.
The original toilets are for
staff/tenant use only. A new
disabled toilet is now present within
the sawmill site for public use,
although these facilities are not
open at all times
Toilet facilities at timber yard leave
much to be desired and need
improvement if visitors’ needs are
to be properly served.
