Update from the FISH locality information officers
“We’ve had an exciting few months
in post. We have been really busy
making contact with families and
service providers to get a feel for
what is available.
A highlight for all of us was meeting
parent carers at the ERVIP and LOOK
AHEAD parent carer event.
We received good feedback
(and an excellent monkey puppet)
from everyone who attended.
Without your valuable feedback we
cannot deliver a parent centred service.
In the next few months the officers are
holding a series of workshops based
around sleep, behaviour and transition.
We hope these workshops will give
parents the opportunity to meet a
professional in an informal setting and
to get general information from their
locality information officer.

Ruth Shepherd, locality information
officer for Bridlington, Driffield,
Pocklington and the Wolds, has been
working with others to re-launch the
Bridlington Autism support group.
Christine Clive, locality information
officer for Beverley and Holderness, is
looking into setting up an ASD support
group in the South Holderness area.
She is developing links with special
schools in Hull as we know many East
Riding children attend these schools.
In the next few months the team will be
busy making links with more local
community groups and parents – check
