The <strong>European</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> Sciences and Arts – Spain has its own web domain on the<br />
Internet at www.academia-europea.org and it is updated regularly. The Spanish<br />
Delegation’s website <strong>reports</strong> on activities carried out in the past and those planned in the<br />
short- and long-term future, in different windows.<br />
In <strong>2008</strong> the website received over 300,000 visits from Europe, Asia and America. The web<br />
statistics on pages viewed show that the top positions were held by the <strong>Academy</strong>'s publications,<br />
led by Social Perception <strong>of</strong> Science, with over 30,000 visits, accounting for almost<br />
16% <strong>of</strong> the total; Energy: the present and future <strong>of</strong> different technologies, with over 20,000<br />
visits (10.65% <strong>of</strong> the total); and Health in Europe, Phase 2, visited almost 13,500 times (7%<br />
<strong>of</strong> the total).<br />
With regard to downloads, the preference was for Social Perception <strong>of</strong> Science, and this<br />
document was downloaded 1,900 times (9.82% <strong>of</strong> the total); Investigation in major industry<br />
(more than 1,200 times, 6.26% <strong>of</strong> the download total); and Energy: the present and<br />
future <strong>of</strong> different technologies, which was downloaded more than 1,100 times, accounting<br />
for 6.11% <strong>of</strong> the total. In total, 48 different archives have been downloaded at some<br />
point during <strong>2008</strong>, representing a total <strong>of</strong> over 19,000 downloads. Almost all our<br />
Delegation’s publications have been viewed and downloaded on some occasion. These<br />
statistics, and their periodic evolution, permit the <strong>Academy</strong>’s research programmes to be<br />
adapted to the interest shown for some issues by Internet users, at the same time as<br />
improving contents and access to our pages in the light <strong>of</strong> the visit tracking statistics that<br />
are obtained.<br />
