Beigua <strong>Geopark</strong> - ITALY<br />
The new <strong>Geopark</strong> information and interpretation facility in Sassello<br />
During 2011 the Beigua Regional Nature Park (<strong>European</strong> and Global<br />
<strong>Geopark</strong>) continued his work to improve the geological heritage<br />
conservation activities within the frame of the wider and more complex<br />
strategy of conservation of the natural and cultural-historical heritage the<br />
protected area has. New projects and opportunities were developed.<br />
Highlights of the year included:<br />
● Opening of the new information and interpretation facility at the<br />
entrance of the Deiva Regional Forest, in Sassello on 24 th May 2011.<br />
Entirely renovated thanks to regional funds, it works as a multipurpose<br />
center able to host educational activities as well as to organize local<br />
events, workshops and meetings. The main hall offers 50 seats and is<br />
provided with multimedia equipment to support several uses.<br />
● Carrying out of a new project about local governance and<br />
environmental/socio-economic values in the <strong>Geopark</strong> area with the<br />
collaboration of the Regional Administration. Well-structured activities<br />
with several stakeholders and specialists workshops has been organized<br />
