Naturtejo <strong>Geopark</strong> – PORTUGAL<br />

I GeoSchools Conference for national teachers was held in the Naturtejo<br />

<strong>Geopark</strong>, under the frame of a three year-EU Project, to discuss curricula and<br />

approaches in secondary schools<br />

● Landscape Festival 2011 – <strong>European</strong> <strong>Geopark</strong>s Week. In this edition, the<br />

Landscape Festival summed 59651 participants, which contributed for the<br />

synergy of the tourism sector of the region, during almost two months.<br />

● CROSSINGS: International and Interdisciplinary Workshop on natural<br />

and cultural resources for the sustainable development of Naturtejo<br />

<strong>Geopark</strong>. This workshop was organized in Idanha-a-Nova, with the participation<br />

of 29 students from the University of Califórnia - Berkeley, the Management<br />

School of Idanha-a-Nova, the University of Minho and the Fernando Pessoa<br />

University of Porto.<br />

● Signing project implemented all over the <strong>Geopark</strong>. The main geosites of<br />

the <strong>Geopark</strong> are now signed and have interpretative panels; the EGN corner is<br />

now in several tourism offices and also private guest houses.<br />

● Naturtejo <strong>Geopark</strong> hosts the I GEOschools Conference for teachers -<br />

Naturtejo <strong>Geopark</strong> organized the I GEOschools Conference: new approaches in<br />

Geosciences teaching, at the School of Management of Idanha-a-Nova, which<br />

was integrated in the 3-year <strong>European</strong> Project joining geoscientists from<br />

different universities, museums, geoparks and training schools for teachers,<br />

from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Austria. The aim of this project is to<br />

define models with principles for literacy in Geosciences for all the <strong>European</strong><br />
