Fforest Fawr <strong>Geopark</strong> – Wales, UK<br />
Carreg Cennen Castle is built on a crag of Carboniferous Limestone. This<br />
romantically situated site is a popular destination for tourists.<br />
● 27 th EGN Coordination Committee Meeting 28 March -1 April. Fforest<br />
Fawr <strong>Geopark</strong> together with the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority hosted<br />
this meetingin the beautiful market town of Brecon. Highlights included the field<br />
excursion on 30 March which provided delegates with a tour of the landscape, a<br />
visit to a recently restored geosite and an opportunity to meet with and<br />
experience the hospitality of the local people. A tour of Carreg Cennen Castle<br />
followed by a dinner showed how a local businessman makes use of this<br />
spectacular location to create sustainable employment.<br />
● Fforest Fawr <strong>Geopark</strong> Festival 21 May- 5 June. The successful sixth<br />
annual Festival was delivered as a component of <strong>European</strong> <strong>Geopark</strong>s Week.<br />
Nine partner organisations helped to deliver 30 events involving 21 walks, 6<br />
talks and 3 exhibitions over a 16 day period, the whole being enjoyed by over<br />
