First District

Uncontested Election. . .
According to the Utah State Bar Bylaws, "In the event an
insufcient number of nomiating petitions are rued to
require balloting in a division, the person or persons nomi-
nated shal be declared elected."
N. George Daines is running uncontested in the First District
and wi therefore be declared elected.
Third District
HELEN E. CHRISTIAN
I would appreciate your support for my
candidacy for the Bar Commssioner for the
Third District. I am a parer in the firm of
Gustin & Christian and have been an active
member of the Bar for 19 years. I am past
chair of the Famiy Law Section and have
served the Bar throughout my career in
other areas, as an exam grader, as a member of the Screenig
Panel "C," and, most recently, as Chair of the Advertsing Com-
mittee. I was selected as Utah Famiy Lawyer of the Year in 1998.
I believe that there are many critical issues that face Utah
lawyers and the Bar, including the implementation of advanced
technology in al aspects of the law and the avaiabilty of pro-
grams to educate lawyers about the new technology and how to
effectively use it in their practice. In addition, the issues of
lawyer professionalsm and avaiabilty of pro bono services
demand furter attention.
I would be privileged to serve as your Bar Commssioner and
would appreciate your support. Thank you.

test (a competition for high school Peer Leadership Teams, an
organization that promotes a drg-free liestyle for teenagers).

DENISE A DRAGOO
I am once again seekig your support for
the position of Bar Commssioner from the
Third District. I have served on the Board
of Bar Commssioners for seven of the past
eight years and hope to return to the
Board afer a brief one-year intermission.
Currently, I am a partner with the firm of
Snell & Wiler and an active member of the Natural
ResourceÆnvironmental Law Section of the American Bar Asso-
ciation and the Utah State Bar. I serve on the Board of the Legal
Aid Society of Salt Lake City and the "and Justice for Al" cam-
paign. As a former Bar Commssioner and past Chair of the
Judicial Conduct Commssion, I wi bring experience to this
position. I have a strong commtment to ensuring that the Bar
Commission reflects the needs and concerns of its Bar mem-

bers. Currently, I am petitionig the Board for direct election of
Bar leadership by Bar members. Popular election of the Presi-
dent-Elect wil require the Board to become more responsive to
members and wil involve al lawyers in the direction of Bar
afairs. I also seek to eliminate the retention election for Presi-
