opportunities:
News Analyst for new online magazine
Dancing Giraffe is a new online magazine for people
with disabilities and their families/carers. They seek
a volunteer with broadband access to support the
editor with the analysis of regular news feeds to inform
articles and information provided by the magazine.
Gardener needed for local Scout camp
Prances Scout Camp in Wickham Bishops are looking
for volunteer gardeners to help with the maintenance
of the site - mowing, weeding and trimming hedge etc.
They are also looking to develop the site further. Green
fingered volunteers are welcome to share ideas!
Volunteers to support and promote EGM
Essex Gay are looking for volunteers to be drop in
hosts at regular sessions supporting gay people in
the community. They are also looking for people who
can help with media relations and promotion or attend
events to represent the organisation.
Puppy Parents and Foster Homes
Canine Partners need volunteers to be puppy parents
and train assistance dogs to help the disabled. You
should be at home for most of the day and have a safe
and secure garden. Training takes place at Writtle
College, so transport is needed. Alternatively, foster
homes are sought for animals - for short periods.
Train as a First Aider
The British Red Cross are looking for volunteers to
become Event First Aiders. Once trained volunteers
will provide emergency first aid at community events
such as concerts and football games or be on hand to
help to provide support at major emergencies.
Maldon is blessed with numerous voluntary
groups, charities and clubs. Maldon and District
Community Voluntary Service is a registered charity
that provides support to many of these groups and they
have provided Maldon Life with details of some of the
local organisations that provide services and activities,
working on the premise that - if you do not know
who to contact, you can’t join!
We felt it might be helpful to publish the list (see column
on the right), with contact numbers as supplied by the
CVS and we plan to do so from time to time - updated
as necessary. This is just a snapshot - there are other
clubs and we are happy to include them in future.

and is maintained by Braintree, Chelmsford, Colchester
and Maldon CVS’s. It reflects a wide variety of
organisations supporting the community and in the
Maldon District around 140 different groups have been
added - everything from small groups working in one
location to county-wide charities. You can define your
search by beneficiary, activity or location.
