Our Christmas party was held at the Senior Center
downtown. We missed two of our ailing members. Members
who could not attend will be visited and a poinsettia plant
presented. Gifts were exchanged all around and included the
Center’s two servers.
A thank-you note from Joan Peterson was read in
remembrance of her husband, Gordon.
The Salvation Army is requesting bell ringers in Minot,
but we will have to decline as our wrists are not as strong as
they used to be. Any other donations will be delayed until
January.
Agent O’Clair from Bismarck attended our meeting but
was unable to contact inactive members as anticipated. She
will attempt again for January.
I am writing this just after getting home from our annual
Christmas party. As always, it was wonderful thanks to the
efforts of so many! We had a delicious potluck meal, with
the tasty pork provided by the lodge. We were privileged
to be able to watch a lovely Christmas program with talent
provided by our younger members. We are blessed by such
awesome talent! We enjoyed fun and fellowship, but we
missed those of you who could not be there. Our next article
will have more details and pictures of this enjoyable afternoon
and evening.
Members had their Annual Christmas dinner on December
9. Tables were adorned by Santa’s, Snowmen, and candy
canes. Forty members and guests attended, and enjoyed a
lovely table of desserts; all homemade. All had a wonderful
time. Goodie bags were given out to members and guest.
We had a short meeting after
dinner. It is time to get ready
for our annual Jaternice Dinner.
Members talked about getting
five new serving tables that
are narrow, so the servers don’t
have to reach to give guests their food at the dinner. We also
discussed getting a bigger roaster to put the Jaternice in.
The election of officers was held with all officers retaining
their positions as follows: President David Victorine,
Vice President Jenny Miller, Secretary/Treasurer Karen
Rasmussen.
December birthdays were read.
We will be having our annual Jaternice Dinner on February
17, 2013. Preorders for Jaternice and strudel, will be allowed
as we had done for the last two years. All are welcome to order
for local pickup only. Preorder forms will be mailed out after
Christmas.
Hope all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
