Working Bee for Ranchslider The idea of a putting a ranchslider/stacker door in the club house was formed quite some time ago on a Friday night. Slowly the idea was thought through and decided that we could do it and it would improve the clubrooms. I was taken to the AGM and followed up at the following committee meeting. Graeme had a sound plan and the plan was put to action with plans done by ….. The first working bee was on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th, with a great turn out of members to help and great progress was made. The old window w a s r e m o v e d and the door was put in. The p r o j e c t couldn’t be e n c l o s e d until the c o u n c i l i ns pe c to r had been to check the work. It passed! The cladding went on at the next working bee on Friday 14 th December after work and more good progress was made. Graeme put in a lot of solo work on Saturdays and Sundays between then and the last working bee that was on Saturday 2 nd March. That working bee was to get the painting done, there was a lot more painting and work there and finally we were making progress. Graeme and I headed to Mitre 10 to pick the paint for the interior wall, we thought we would make it obvious that we had painted the wall and pick an outrageous colour! The job is almost completed now with just some more finishing paint work to do and we have a brilliant door to enjoy, I’d like to thank all the helpers over all days. Correcting Errors in Official Documents 61.29(e) An incorrect entry in a logbook may be altered only by putting a line through the entry and by adding the correct information either beside the entry or on a new line. Rule 61.29(e) provides for the correction of a logbook entry. Correcting fluid (e.g. twink), stickers or labels do not meet this rule requirement. This is the official rule set by CAA, if you make a mistake in any official document like your logbook and the aircrafts Technical Log you need to rule a straight line through it, the mistake still needs to be readable. DON’T USE TWINK Hawera Aero Club Online Booking There has been much talk over a number of years that there needs to greater access for pilots to the club aircraft and one of these ways is to have a better more modern approach to the booking system. We are going to trial Google Calendar to see if it will be suitable for our needs. We are hoping that every member that will be using the booking system will use their own login, which is a gmail account, if you have an android smartphone you will already have one. The Aero Club calendar will be shared with your gmail account and then when you make a booking it will be possible to see who makes, modifies or moves a booking. The example of the diary below is an example of last weeks diary and how it looks when the date has past. To make this work every flight will have to be in the diary. After talking to other clubs that use google calendar that’s the one thing that they found as the biggest issue. For example someone is at home and they check the diary and find, the plane they want is available and book it, drive to the club to use and find that someone has already taken the plane and not booked it. This is a very exciting advancement in the club and we need everyone to support it, if you have any suggestions to make it work better we’d love to hear them.
