“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the
ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

“...The graduating class of 2013 was has grown up in a school of a thousand differences.
A thousand changes overwhelmed our
widening perspectives upon entering
high school. We have learned from
these differences and changed to benefit
from them.
“So this is an invocation to continue the
adaptability and acceptance that has
gotten us this far. This is a challenge to
look towards the future, towards universities and careers and big decisions and
tough situations, and promise to continue, in the scope of this beautiful and terrifying
world, to embody and embrace change as we have these past four years.
Though we each may be leaving the nest to fly through storms of our own, we can
take comfort in upholding the tenacity that Ferndale has fostered within us.

we say goodbye, we leave behind
a legacy of malleable strength. We
take with us the power to project
our change onto the world that
continually challenges us, all the
while remembering Ferndale and
the way it has changed us - for the
better.”
