Cutting Requirements for Pinwheel Blocks
From cream background fabric
Cut 4 strips 2 ½ x wof, subcut into (52) 2 ½” squares
Cut 2 strips 2 ⅞”x wof, subcut into (26) 2 ⅞” squares
From red vine
Cut 4 strips 2 ⅞ in x wof, subcut into (52) 2 ⅞” squares
From white with red script
Cut 4 strips 2 ½” x wof, subcut into (52) 2 ½” squares
Cut 2 strips 2 ⅞” x wof, subcut into (26) 2 ⅞” Squares
Pinwheel Block Construction
Directions are for one block. You will need to make 13 blocks.

Pair up (2) 2 ⅞”cream background squares with (2) 2 ⅞“ red vine squares. With right sides together, draw
a line corner to corner on the cream squares. Stitch a scant ¼” from each side of the center line. Cut apart
on the line and press toward the red vine fabric. This will yield 4 half-square triangles.
Pair up (2) 2 ⅞” red vine squares with (2) 2 ⅞” red script squares. Do the same as in step 1. Press toward
the red vine fabric.
Sew the (4) red vine/red script half-square triangles together to make the center pinwheel.
Sew each of the (4) cream/red vine half-square triangles to a 2½” cream square. Be sure the cream
half of the half-square triangle is adjacent to the cream square. Repeat with the red vine half-square
triangles.
Assemble the block as shown with a 2 ½” red script square in each corner.
Appliqué and Embroidery Blocks
Using large heart as your appliqué template, prepare 8 hearts using your favorite method
of appliqué. Center heart on background squares and appliqué in place.
Embroidery: All embroidery uses 2 strands of embroidery fl oss. Place the patt ern over
a light box or bright window. Place fabric right side up on top of patt ern and trace
embroidery lines with a “Mircron 01” permanent brown marker. . Cut 4 squares fusible
interfacing 8 ½” x 8 ½”. Following manufactures instructions iron to wrong side of
embroidery square. Embroider leaves with a lazy daisy stitch, berries with French knots, bunny eye with a tiny satin stitch.
Back stitch or stem stitch remaining embroidery lines. Make 4 embroidery blocks.
Quilt Assembly
Assemble blocks in fi ve rows using quilt photo as a guide.
Sew rows together, press seams in opposing directions.
Sew inner border strips to each side of the quilt top. Sew on the top and bott om border strips. Press toward the borders.
Sew outer border strips to each side of the quilt top. Sew on the top and bott om border strips. Press toward the borders.
To fi nish, layer, baste and quilt. Bind the edges and you are fi nished!

Pellon lightweight fusible interfacing to stabilize embroidery

Cutting Requirements
From cream fabric, cut 3 strips 8 ½” x wof. Cut into 12 squares
8 ½” x 8 ½” for appliqué and embroidery blocks
Inner Border (red stripe)
Cut 5 strips 2 ½” x width of fabric; cut into 2 side inner borders
2 ½” x 40 ½” and cut and piece into top and bott om inner
borders 2 ½” x 44 ½”
Outer Border (red bunnies on white)
Cut 5 strips 5” x wof; cut and piece into 2 side borders 5” x 44
½” and top and bott om borders 5” x 53 ½”
Binding (red plaid)
Cut 5 strips 2 ½” x width of fabric.
