An excellent way to encourage your children’s German language competency is to join a sport “verein” (club).<br />
Generally the sport (“fussball”, swimming, badminton, tennis, etc.) runs all year, with breaks for school holidays.<br />
Some sports are more competitive than others within towns. Some clubs are more competitive than others. By<br />
asking questions of the coaches or “trainers”, you can determine whether this will be a good fit for your child.<br />
Additionally, you can usually “try out” the club before joining. Most towns offer enough variety so that children can<br />
usually find a sport that they like.<br />
