JHP The seat is made of filled PTFE in order to minimize plastic flow effects at high temperatures. The combined action of seat geometry and the elastic insert guarantees a long lasting bidirectional shuttoff. JHP FS or Fire Safe This valve has been designed to satisfy all fire test standards. In the event of fire, a metallic ring, in stainless material, takes over from the PTFE seat. High performances The ultimate design 1. Pressure on same side of stem 2. Pressure on opposite side of stem In this case, the closing action of disc combined with slight trim deformation leads to compression of PTFE seat between disc and metallic insert. Subsequently, the seat takes support from the retaining ring, while the energized insert delivers a sealing pressure between disc and seat. The fluid flowing behind the seat increases the sealing effect. In fact, the JHP seat offers real dynamic in both directions. This bidirectional upstream/downstream tightness is maintained throughout the full rated pressure range. With fire, the excessive heat will destroy the PTFE seat (A) and will then be replaced by the metallic ring (B) which will provide a bidirectional back-up seal, limiting leakage to meet accepted standards.
