Study Tour to Taiwan on Special Education by CASE & SAME Network Schools

A group of 30 delegates from CASE and SAME network schools visited
National Taiwan Normal University and special schools in Taipei from 31
March to 3 April 2007. The major objective of this study tour was to
understand the senior secondary special education curriculum and programs
and the practice of integrated education in Taiwan.
台灣之行有感
懷着既興奮又複雜的心情乘搭旅遊巴前往台北桃園機場,結束我首次參加的交流團。我帶
回香港的,不但是沉甸甸的背包,也是一些反思。
台灣的特殊教育辦得比我想像中先進,光是學校的「硬件」,即學校設施(感官室設有水床,
有冷水及暖水泳池,有水療池……)、師生的比例已叫我雀躍。在「軟件」方面,如課程設
計等也漸漸成熟。當然學校從政府得到的支持是其發展良好的重要因素,但也得配合一群
有心志的教育工作者才是成功的先決條件。
若果我只抱着「做好呢份工」的心態去工作,對於這群孩子失去熱誠的話,縱使有多充裕
的資源也不能夠「教好呢班人」,那就失卻為人師表的意義。怎樣才能夠讓我們的學生快
樂健康地成長、有一段既難忘又有意義的校園回憶?真不是一件容易的事啊!而這就是我
的目標。
看見別人在進步,就提醒自己不可以停步,不要做龜兔賽跑中的驕傲兔子,也不要效法
烏龜的緩慢步伐,還是以心為心,盡力去跑當跑的路程。

Visitors from California State University at Fresno (10 April 2007)
After the previous visit in June 2006, another study tour group from the College of Education
of San Francisco State University visited the University of Hong Kong on 10 April 2007. The
study group comprised 14 delegates. Professor Nirmala Rao, acting Dean of the Faculty and
Professor S.K. Tse welcomed the guests, joined by CASE staffs. The major objective of the
study tour is to understand education and teacher training in special education in Hong Kong.
Visitors from Deague University, Korea (13 August 2007)
A team of 31 visitors from Deague University in Korea visited Hong Kong to look at special
education programmes in Hong Kong. This study tour was led by the Professor of College of
Education, Daegu University, Dr. Young-Joon Choe . In the meeting, Dr. Ming-Gon John
LIAN, Honorary Director of CASE briefed the visitors on the mission, goals and achievements
of CASE. Mr. Andrew TSE Chung-Yee, Administrative Director of CASE took the opportunity
to introduce the SAME Curriculum Project to the visitors.
Report: CASE Annual General Meeting
CASE Annual General Meeting 2007 (4 September 2007)
The Third CASE Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 4 September 2007 at The
University of Hong Kong. In the meeting, Dr. Ming-gon John Lian, Honorary Director, and Mr.
Andrew Tse, Administrative Directors, presented the annul report of the centre and shared
with members the works of CASE in the past year from March 2006 to February 2007. By
September 2007, we have 73 Full Members from The University of Hong Kong and 100
Associate Members from different specialized field and profession.
