Here’s How to Login to MIStar (Zangle) The district’s student information system, MIStar, has a feature which allows parents/guardians (and students) to view your student’s information through the internet. You can view grades, attendance, cafeteria use, biographical and contact information. Returning Ferndale Schools parents and students will have the same pin and password. Your pin and password are valid throughout your Ferndale Schools Enrollment. Click here for the MIStar instructions posted on the district website as Online Access to Student Information: MiStar ParentPortal User Guide. Pins and passwords will be available electronically to any parent or student with a valid email address on file (entered in MIStar) with the school district to obtain a pin and password electronically. If you have any questions, need to change your password and/or update your information in Zangle, please email ZangleHelp@ferndaleschools.org with your name, student’s name and school in the email request page. You and Ferndale Schools: Ways you can communicate with us To contact a child’s teacher, keep track of attendance, grades, and lunch accounts, Ferndale Schools uses a system called MIStar (formerly known as Zangle). This year, the site is easier to use. More information about Zangle is listed on the left. Click on the button on the right to access the site. Teachers can be contacted via email or phone and their contact information is listed on www.ferndaleschools.org. Click on the Schools pull down menu and select the school you need, then select “staff.” Each teacher has their own website on MIStar to track grades, attendance, homework, and lunch accounts. Information on accessing MIStar can be found in the story to the left. For information about contacting specific offices within the District, general concerns or questions, go to www.ferndaleschools. org/contactus.html or call 248/586-8651. FHS Marching Band The FHS Marching Band began rehearsing this year’s program during camp at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan this summer (this year’s seniors are above). This year’s program is called “Darkest Before the Dawn,” and is a play on the phrase “it’s always darkest before the dawn,” in that the show starts dark and ominous, and musical and visually things go from bad to worse—a journey from great darkness into light. Prelude for Piano, Op. 34, No. 14 by Dmitri Shostakovich, Prophecy of the Earth by David Gillingham, Medea’s Dance of Vengeance by Samuel Barber, Redemption of a Fallen Angel by David Gillingham. ALL members of the band will be dressed VERY darkly for the first 3/4 of the show, but then at the crucial moment when the show ‘hits bottom,’ there is a huge color palette change (with lots of happy yellow and white), as well as a big musical change. The band will be performing at the following shows and times dates this fall: Novi HS Sept. 22 BOA Regional @ Silverdome Oct. 6 Clarkston HS Oct. 20 Lakeland HS Oct. 27 MCBA Finals @ Ford Field Nov. 3 This year’s drum majors are: Joe Milobar, Junior and Mallory Fuller, Senior.
