<strong>Ferndale</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> is a<br />

supporter of Rainbow Run<br />

The <strong>Ferndale</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> is proud<br />

to be one of the supporters for this<br />

weekend’s Rainbow Run in<br />

downtown <strong>Ferndale</strong>.<br />

The Rainbow Run will take place<br />

Saturday, June 1 and is a 5k walk/run<br />

meant for everyone of all ages. It is<br />

spearheaded by the <strong>Ferndale</strong> Area<br />

Chamber of Commerce and presented<br />

by Garden Fresh Gourmet and is meant<br />

to promote acceptance and diversity.<br />

Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m.<br />

and the run /walk start times are<br />

staggered by category, starting at<br />

10:30 a.m.<br />

All proceeds from the event go<br />

to four area non-profit organizations:<br />

<strong>Ferndale</strong> Area Chamber of Commerce,<br />

<strong>Ferndale</strong> Community Foundation,<br />

Affirmations, and Upstander, an<br />

anti-bullying program established<br />

by the Friendship Circle.<br />

Gary Meier and <strong>Ferndale</strong> Career<br />

Center Director Pam Bellaver both<br />

serve on the <strong>Ferndale</strong> Chamber.<br />

TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!<br />

The weather cooperated on Friday this week as the leaders of FMS and FHS fulfilled<br />

an obligation to the <strong>Ferndale</strong> Education Foundation (FEF) and wore Togas to school.<br />

Principal Roger Smith. The FEF held its Annual Dinner on March 15 and raised<br />

more than $20,000 for the teachers and students of <strong>Ferndale</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong>. A live<br />

auction is part of the event, and this year the attire of the three school leaders was<br />

auctioned off for one day this school year. Richard Elling bid $300 for Lisa Williams<br />

to wear a Toga; Marianne Corrigan bid $300 for Roger Smith to wear a Toga; and<br />

Jamie Butters bid $550 for Dawn Warren to wear hers!<br />
