Colton barnes—Iowa<br />
Colton Barnes is a part of the legendary<br />
Barnes PRCA Rodeo, started by his<br />
grandfather. He works in breeding stock<br />
and manages 300 bucking and 50 saddle<br />
horses. Colton also manages 150 bucking<br />
bulls and 38 cows. He enjoys the<br />
challenges and loves developing new<br />
skills. Colton is a member of the South<br />
O’Brien <strong>FFA</strong> Chapter, and his advisor is<br />
Eric Kumm. This award is sponsored by<br />
Cabela’s and Yamaha Motor Corporation<br />

Jared Taylor schlosnagle—Kentucky<br />
Jared Taylor Schlosnagle started his<br />
SAE when his parents bought 15 laying<br />
hens for him and his sister to raise. Jared<br />
started a successful business of producing<br />
eggs laid by free-range hens. He has<br />
worked to market his eggs, traveling to<br />
farmers markets and preparing omelets<br />
to show off his product. Jared is a member<br />
of the Shelby County <strong>FFA</strong> Chapter,<br />
and his <strong>FFA</strong> advisor is Kerwin Ewing. This<br />
award is sponsored by Tractor Supply<br />

Nolan Robert Hildebrand started his<br />
sheep enterprise with one ewe and<br />
expanded to 35 wether ewes and two<br />
wether sires. He produces market lambs<br />
to show and sell to other <strong>FFA</strong> and 4-H<br />
members across the state. Nolan has<br />
also had success at fairs and jackpot<br />
shows. He is a member of the Templeton<br />
<strong>FFA</strong> Chapter, and his <strong>FFA</strong> advisors are<br />
Chris Hildebrand, Robin Schroeder and<br />
Erin Thompson. This award is sponsored<br />

Tanner Ray Miller knew he wanted to<br />
raise a small breed of dog. He decided<br />
on the Pembroke Welsh Corgi because of<br />
their low-maintenance, overall demeanor<br />
and popularity. Tanner created facilities<br />
that allowed him to breed throughout the<br />
entire year and also learned veterinary<br />
skills to save expenses. He is a member<br />
of the Mulhall-Orlando <strong>FFA</strong> Chapter, and<br />
his advisor is Allen Miller. This award is<br />
sponsored by Merial.<br />

Damon e. pombo—California<br />
Damon E. Pombo raises a herd of Boer<br />
goats. He has 150 breeding does and<br />
three bucks. Originally, Damon sold his<br />
goats for purebred breeding stock, market<br />
show goats and ethnic niche meat.<br />
He expanded his enterprise to also market<br />
his goats as weed control. Damon<br />
is a member of the Tracy <strong>FFA</strong> Chapter.<br />
His <strong>FFA</strong> advisors are Nikki Maddux, Pat<br />
Rooney, Laura Kellery and Jason Gentry.<br />

Garrett Hightower works at Strome Fisher<br />
Farms and produces seeds. He assists in<br />
seed production for sugar beets, hybrid<br />
radishes, coriander and cabbage. Garrett<br />
also produces several varieties of grass<br />
seeds. He has achieved his goal of better<br />
understanding what it means to be a producer<br />
with both successes and setbacks.<br />
Garrett is a member of the Junction City<br />
<strong>FFA</strong> Chapter, and his <strong>FFA</strong> advisor is Kathy<br />
